Children as young as 8 are building million-follower audiences online; but at what cost?

The rise of young content creators is reshaping childhood, and the risks are more serious than most realize.

According to the 2026 Child Digital Safety Report:

🌏89% of children under 13 now create digital content regularly
🌏67% of young creators report feeling "pressure to post daily"
🌏Only 23% of platforms have adequate child protection measures

As parents, educators, and digital safety professionals, we're facing critical questions that didn't exist 5 years ago:

→ When does creative expression become exploitation?
→ How do we balance digital literacy with protection?
→ What responsibility do platforms have for developing minds?
→ Are current regulations keeping pace with reality?

The conversation around young influencers often highlights success stories and earnings.

But what about the psychological impact? The privacy violations? The long-term consequences we're only beginning to understand?

Join our upcoming webinar: "Kid-Influencing: The Hidden Risks No One Talks About" where we'll explore

* Evidence-based research from the 2026 Child Digital Safety Report
* Share real case studies, and
* Discuss actionable frameworks for creating safer digital spaces for young creators.

Yesterday, we had a Career Growth session with the Women In AI Fellows where we invited two seasoned trainers to take the fellows through different Career Paths in AI.

The session provided the Women In AI Fellows a deeper look into what it truly means to grow within the AI ecosystem and how important clarity, exploration, and intentional learning are in shaping that journey.

Eunice Adewusi took the fellows through the topic “Mapping Your Path in the AI Ecosystem”, using storytelling, Research, and interactive conversations to break down her journey in tech and the realities of navigating an industry that is constantly evolving.

She introduced the fellows to some of the fastest-growing career paths in tech and emphasized the importance of continuous learning, exploration, and growth as a beginner in AI.

Ada Innocent led the second session on “Finding Your Place in the AI Economy”, where he introduced fellows to the different layers within the AI ecosystem across data, science, product, and policy, alongside the career opportunities within each path.

He also discussed how to identify career paths based on individual strengths, coding requirements, quantitative reasoning capacity, and the importance of building a strong skill stack that combines technical, foundational, domain, and soft skills.

More than anything, today’s session reminded the fellows that building a career in AI is not about rushing to fit into a role, but about understanding yourself, exploring intentionally, and positioning yourself for long-term growth and impact.

Quote Cards from our webinar on Data Privacy and Surveillance in the Nigerian Digital Context.

As digital adoption grows, so does the need for awareness around how our data is collected, used, and protected.

These insights are a reminder that digital participation must be matched with digital responsibility.

We’re proud to celebrate our Women in AI Fellowship Cohort 1 alumni, Busari Rasheedat, Nana Aisha, and Abubakar Khadija, on securing a ₦2,000,000 grant for their innovation at Demo Day.

From learning to building, they developed FarmFit, a solution designed to analyze soil data and translate it into clear, actionable insights for farmers, helping improve productivity across both connected and low-connectivity environments.
