*Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kwara Branch celebrate 2023 WORLD RIVERS DAY with the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority*
25th September, 2023 marks another collaborative results, as the Management of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA) partner with the Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch, the State Ministries of Environment, and Water Resources to commemorate 2023 World Rivers Day in a Grand Style.
The celebration which commenced with Sensitization Walk that covers above 1Km from the state office of the authority, continue in a motorcade to Ojaiya community with identified high risk river abuse for further public sensitization.
In his remarks, Dr. Adeniyi Aremu, the Managing Director of LNRBDA emphasised the need for the protection of rivers in Nigeria. He further encouraged Nigerians to practice good maintenance of water bodies, the habit of maintaining clean water bodies, which, is key to promoting a healthy living conditions of the people in the community.
The event was graced with tree planting, as the Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch, BABAOMO E. Ayodeji planted tree alongside the MD and the State Commissioners present.
Other dignitaries present were Kwara State Commissioner of Environment and Tourism; Hon. Ahmed Sheu Usman, Commissioner of Agricultural and Natural Resources; Mrs Oluwatoyosi Thomas, Director of Engineering Planning and Design; Engineer Rasheed Oyedeji, the Mogaji of Ojàìyá community; Chief Isiaka Awobisi Awokegba.
