*NRCS KWARA sustains the tempo of Handwashing sensitization in Schools*

Efforts to ensure that many students of various schools benefit from her campaign on making *Clean Hands Within Reach*, the Kwara Branch of the NRCS takes hand hygiene sensitization to more schools, in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Mercy Dew Model School, Sabo Oke and St. John Secondary, Maraba, both benefited from the hand wash campaign train of the Branch.

Teachers, Pupils and students of the two (2) schools, were effectively sensitized as many took time after another to practice the step-by-step procedures for hand washing.

The Principal, St. John Secondary school, while appreciating the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kwara Branch for the donation of hand washing materials, calls for more support for the Society to enable her reach more schools and communities in Kwara State.

The Branch Secretary has assured that the Team is expected to visit more schools before the close of this academic term.

*NRCS Kwara takes Global Handwashing Day to Schools*

As the world marks 2023 Global Handwashing Day with the theme *"Clean Hands are Within Reach"* the Kwara Branch of the NRCS commences Schools Hand Hygiene campaign.

Marked on the 15th October, global handwashing day supports the importance of good hand hygiene in controlling the start and spread of diseases and virus, such as cholera, COVID-19, and other NTDs.

This year's theme _*“Clean hands are within reach”*_ highlights the significance of reachability to amenities for hand hygiene, of necessity are soap and water in and around our schools, offices, home and other areas in our communities.

David Akintola College, the pioneer campaign school, appreciated the NRCS Kwara Branch, for the privileged session, sensitizing the staff and students on best practices for clean hands.

The Branch Secretary, on this day is calling on everyone to practice safe hands culture and ensure *"clean hands are within reach".*

*Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kwara Branch celebrate 2023 WORLD RIVERS DAY with the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority*

25th September, 2023 marks another collaborative results, as the Management of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA) partner with the Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch, the State Ministries of Environment, and Water Resources to commemorate 2023 World Rivers Day in a Grand Style.

The celebration which commenced with Sensitization Walk that covers above 1Km from the state office of the authority, continue in a motorcade to Ojaiya community with identified high risk river abuse for further public sensitization.

In his remarks, Dr. Adeniyi Aremu, the Managing Director of LNRBDA emphasised the need for the protection of rivers in Nigeria. He further encouraged Nigerians to practice good maintenance of water bodies, the habit of maintaining clean water bodies, which, is key to promoting a healthy living conditions of the people in the community.

The event was graced with tree planting, as the Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch, BABAOMO E. Ayodeji planted tree alongside the MD and the State Commissioners present.

Other dignitaries present were Kwara State Commissioner of Environment and Tourism; Hon. Ahmed Sheu Usman, Commissioner of Agricultural and Natural Resources; Mrs Oluwatoyosi Thomas, Director of Engineering Planning and Design; Engineer Rasheed Oyedeji, the Mogaji of Ojàìyá community; Chief Isiaka Awobisi Awokegba.

*Red Cross celebrates with SEAP's Founder, Dr. Oladokun Olatunde at the organization's annual * *

It was refreshing and relaxing at the annual * * road walk organized by Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP), to celebrate another milestone of achievements of the organization.

The * * which covered above 10km distance was declared opened by the Founder, Dr. Oladokun Olatunde, who was moved by the presence of the representatives of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Kwara Branch, led by the Branch Secretary, Instr. Babaomo E. Ayodeji.

The exercise which started under an early morning rainfall, saw the presence of over 400 participants comprising mainly staff of the organization across the country.

There was no record of casualty at the end of the exercise.

Oladokun, who was enthralled by the participations of members and volunteers of the Red Cross, reiterated further partnership with the society.

_On the team of the Red Cross:_ a representative of the Governing Council; Mr Bayour Issa (also a friend of the organization), the Branch Resource Mobilization and Capacity Building Officer; J. S. AbdulGaniyu and other members and volunteers.
