A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF AN ENLARGED MEETING OF THE LEADERSHIP OF IKWO NOYO YOUTHS CONSULTATIVE FORUM, TOGETHER WITH YOUTH PRESIDENTS OF 5 PRINCIPAL COMMUNITIES AND ALL THE VILLAGE YOUTHS PRESIDENTS IN IKWO LGA.
Include date and venue.
The Leadership of Ikwo Noyo Youths Consultative Forum and the Youths Presidents of the Principal Communities and Villages in Ikwo LGA met on issues of security and Youths Welfare and resolved as follows:
1. Charge everyone to take the responsibility of the security in their locality with the aim of ensuring that the lives and property of everyone in all the corners of Ikwo is adequately protected.
2. Complete autonomy of Ikwo Youth Elections. Ikwo Youths Presidents/leadership elections at all levels is hence resolved to be entirely Youths affairs devoid of any interferences of any sort in accordance with the peculiarities of each Community and Village and should be based of candidate's integrity, past track record and competence.
3. Henceforth, any youth election in any part of Ikwo LGA should be strictly observed and monitored by the Ikwo Noyo Youths Consultative Forum for transparency and total compliance with the electoral procedures of the body and therefore should be properly notified in good time.
4. Ikwo Youth Presidents and Leaders should be properly empowered to checkmate possible compromises which could pose security threats in various communities and villages.
This is also applicable to unemployed and vulnerable youths. Prioritizing them for empowerment will go along way in checking public nuisance, security and other social vices common among idle youths.
5. The meeting also resolved on immediate establishment of Local Vigilantes Group in all villages as well as community central security to monitor activities and report to appropriate quarters.
Members of the Local Vigilante Groups should consist of persons known in the village to be upright and do not take nor harbor hard drugs.
6. The meeting also approved Security Seminars for all youth presidents and local vigilantes. This was considered crucial for their optimum security performance and efficiency.
7. The Local Government should include logistics and support for local vigilantes in their budgets to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
8. As a matter of importance, Youths should be involved in decision-making processes in matters involving their communities and villages as this will go along in giving them a sense of belonging.
9. Henceforth, no Stakeholder is allowed to be instigating crises in part of Ikwo LGA but should rather take responsibility in peace promotion.
10. As a matter of urgency, the meeting approved the establishment of Special Task Forces(STG) to man identified flash points in all parts of Ikwo LGA and gather security intelligence to prevent crises and criminalities.
11. All Youths Presidents of Ikwo Local Government Area were charged with the responsibility of identifying and reporting of hard drug peddlers within their domains.
12. Presidents of the 5 principal communities of Ikwo should serve as liaisons to the central leadership and ensure regular feedback.
15. Youth leaders were to be diligent, driven by passion and spirit of patriotism in carrying out their primary responsibilities as leaders and avoid being swayed by political interests.
