Meet Chuma Nwokolo, Nigerian writer, lawyer, and publisher whose work moves fluidly between sharp storytelling and cultural urgency.
From the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to writer-in-residence at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, he’s spent decades shaping African letters. Publisher of the influential magazine African Writing, author of early Macmillan Pacesetters, poetry collections, and the celebrated novel The Extinction of Menai named one of Publishers Weekly’s 25 best works of fiction in 2018. His stories and poems have appeared in the London Review of Books, AGNI, and the Massachusetts Review, and have been translated into Italian, Arabic, Yoruba, and beyond.
