IKOT EDIET YOUTH EXECUTIVES HOST EXECUTIVE MEETING.
…calls for inclusivity.

In a bid to run an inclusive government, the newly inaugurated youth executives of IKEYA held their first executive meeting today, aimed at promoting unity and addressing vital issues affecting the youth.

The event, which was held at the Ikot Ediet Village Council Hall, had in attendance the Village Head, Etteidung F. A. Umoekot, his family head counterpart, as well as other dignitaries.

Addressing the youth, the Youth President, Comr. Gabriel Akpan, expressed his appreciation to all the youth executives, whom he described as team members, for accepting the responsibility to pilot the affairs of the youth in the village. He also pledged to run an inclusive government where everyone is carried along.

Also speaking, the Youth Patron, Comr. Elijah Jonah, threw his weight of support behind the newly inaugurated executives, charging all members to work hand in hand to foster the unity and growth of the association. He expressed his utmost happiness, noting that brotherhood continues after the electioneering period.

In his address, the Village Head appreciated the youth once again for their level of cooperation and understanding, and pledged to support the youth at all times when the need arises.

Responding, the Youth Adviser, Comr. Akaninyene Ukanideh, appreciated the Village Head as well as the Youth President for convening the strategic meeting. He added that this would boost the morale and working relationship between the youth and the Village Council.

The meeting had in attendance members of the new executives as well as a representative from Global Concord Newspaper.

PEACE RETURNS AS IKOT EDIET VILLAGE COUNCIL SWEARS IN NEW YOUTH EXECUTIVES ..Council calls for absolute peace and cooperation

Peace prevailed in Ikot Ediet Village on Wednesday, May 13th, as youths turned out en masse to witness the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Youth Executives. The event marks a milestone and the beginning of a new dawn for the community.

The ceremony drew notable personalities from within the village and beyond. The new administration is led by Comr. Gabriel Friday Akpan of the Nto Ediet Family as the Youth President.

In attendance were the presence of the Chairman Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council who was ably represented by Hon. Ubong Equot, Supervisor for Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Iberedem Ukoko, Supervisor for Culture & Tourism; Hon. Idorenyin Umondia; and the Supervisor for Health, alongside other distinguished guests.

Speaking on behalf of the Village Council, Village Head Etteidung Friday Archibong Umoekot charged the new executives to abide by the ethics and code of conduct of both the Traditional Rulers Council and the Youth Forum, and to maintain peaceful coexistence among the youth.

Administering the oath of office, Barr. Matthew Matthew, a seasoned legal practitioner from Ikot Ediet, enlightened the executives on the powers and fundamental rights of youth, urging them to operate within the ambit of the law.

In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn in President, Comr. Gabriel Akpan, pledged to work with all youth in the village and called for absolute peace and unity. He appealed to the youth to “sheath their swords” for peace to prevail.

The Gabriel led administration also promised an inclusive government and a commitment to building on the sustainable development achieved by the previous administration.

Comr. Gabriel Akpan takes over from the former Youth President Comr. Ekereobong Ekanem, whose tenure was described as successful.

The event is seen as a step toward lasting peace following days of disagreement among the youth.

AND GOD REMEMBERED MR & MRS IMO OKUK.

Remember the story of Mr & Mrs Imo Okuk of Ikot Ediet? Following a viral post and video documentary of his unhealthy living condition, earlier today the Principal of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara Partnership project Prince Samuel Ukut moved with compassion, performed the ground breaking for a fully sponsored bedroom apartment for the family.

The Foundation for the building was performed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) Political leader of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area Adede Kufre Inima (Kokoty) amongst other political stalwart.

Prince Samuel Ukut an indigene of Ikot Udoe has promised to carry up the project till finishing which will give the family a healthy living condition.

The team were gladly received by the Village Head of Ikot Ediet Etteidung F. A. Umoekkot, the Youth President Comr. Ekereobong Ekanem amongst other dignitaries.

Sincere appreciation to Ibipntak Essien, Victor Emmanuel Preacherman, Theodore James and everyone else who have been part of this journey to see the reality of this project.

Thank you Prince Ukut for demonstrating kindness to this humble family. May God bless and replenish all your endeavours.

I believe we are charting a new way forward for a better community.
