Topic: Sinking in the ocean
Text: Matthew 14:28-30

Sinking in the ocean is an ill omen. If anyone who didn't know how to swim sank in an ocean, and there were no rescuers to save him/her. There would be no chance of survival for such. Subsequently, that would lead to his/her end.

Peter, after he had experienced all it entailed about Jesus Christ; His might, His miracles, His awesomeness, His apt teachings, and now, how he miraculously walked upon the sea. He asked if he could walk on the water as his Master did. Jesus Christ granted his request, and he walked on the water. But he became carried away, and began to sink. The Bible says the boisterous wind scared him, he became afraid and lost his focus on the Master that he began to sink.

Are you a christian who once surrendered his/her life to Jesus Christ? You were once born again, and your salvation was genuine. What happened now? I know! You are sinking already. You're sinking into the ocean of sin. You're sinking into the ocean of ungodliness. You're sinking into the ocean of worldliness. Now you're stuck and sinking into the ocean of perilous times.

2 Timothy 3 says, "...in the last days, perilous times shall come..."

You have become a lover of yourself, you no longer love God. You don't have zeal for the things of God anymore. You are no longer after spiritual growth and wanting to know God more. Now you're covetous, boastful, proud, blasphemous, unthankful and unholy.

You swim in the ocean of falsehood, you looked "holy". People even commend you, but you're denying the power thereof. You appear holy outwardly, but inwardly you're not. You're exactly a wolf in sheep clothing. Now, you're even against the truth when being said. You're among those that say, "It's a lie, don't listen to them." You now have a corrupt mind. You're sinking in the ocean! Why would you allow Satan sink you in that ocean? Just like Peter cried for help. Cry now to Jesus Christ to help you. I'm certain He will. He didn’t let Peter sink in that ocean. He won't let you sink either, if only you can call to Him today.

Is it even your present situation that shifted your focus from Jesus Christ? Apostle Paul told Timothy in 2 Tim. 3:10-11, that he (Timothy) knew his doctrine, lifestyle, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love and patience. Also, how he endured persecutions and afflictions, but in all, God delivered him. God is always and ever faithful. He will deliver you today if you call on Him.

In Matthew 11:28-30, He said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Conclusively, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only the name of Jesus Christ that can save. Accept Him today to save you from sinking into that ocean, and He will.

Let's pray this prayer together.

Prayer: Lord God thank You for Your message to me today. Forever Your word is settled in heaven. I have sinned against You, please forgive me. I am sinking in the ocean of sin. Lord God bring me out, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Topic: Birthright
Text: Genesis 25:31-34

According to the Scriptures, birthright is the right of the male firstborn in a family to inherit his father's possessions, blessings and authority. Every first male child is entitled to have the larger share of their father's properties, blessings and authority.
Esau carelessly lost his birthright and subsequently lost his blessing to his younger brother -Jacob (Genesis 27:35) because of hunger.

At that moment he didn't care about his birthright as he thought eating the porridge is more important than his birthright. He allowed his feeling of hunger make him lost his birthright. Just as many of so called christians of nowadays have lost their birthright to sin -to fornication, adultery, love of money, worldliness, cherishing their own self, etc. (2 Timothy 3:2-4).

The initial plan of God for us is to enjoy forever in the Garden of Eden where he put man. But Satan deceived and made them lose their birthright. Mankind lost their birthright through sin which was the reason for Jesus Christ to come to the world, to give us the eternal life which mankind lost at the beginning of creation (Roman 5:12-21).

Jesus Christ had come to give back the birthright through salvation and sanctification. He had come to make us God's children, I mean sons and daughters of God. He came to make us become joint-heirs with Him, to enjoy the glory with Him. He came to make us a royal priesthood and peculiar people. He came to bring us out of darkness into the marvellous light we once lost. He came to break the shakles of sin and set us free. He had come to return to us that birthright we lost since the beginning of creation. Read the following Bible texts for divine inspiration John 1:12, Romans 8:17-18;21, 1Peter 2:9-10, John 14:27, Romans 5:1-5.

Now is an opportunity for you to accept Him, and enjoy the restoration of your birthright.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank You for always reminding me of Your greatest love. You always show me love even when I do not deserve it. Forgive me all the sins that made me lose my birthright. Have mercy on me, and graciously restore my birthright in Jesus' name.

Are you the wheat or the tares?

Are you the wheat or the tares?

While men slept. Matthew 13: 25-30

25. But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
26. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.
27. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’
28. He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’
29. But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.
30. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Sleep is good, because during sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. It lowers your risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease. More so, It reduces stress and improves your mood. It helps you think more clearly and do better at work. Additionally, it let you get along better with people. Yet, according to the Bible passage, it is when a man sleeps that the enemy strikes. Because it was the time the enemy knows that the man has no power to do anything because the man is not aware of what's happening around him. As good as sleep is, too much of it can be detrimental to our destiny.

According to our Bible passage, Jesus Christ has us (the church) as His plantation which will be harvested at the end of the world. He planted us beautifully and put us at our duty posts. However, while we are supposed to be actively awakened. We are caught sleeping and the enemy -The devil has sown tares among us. The devil has planted demons in ministry. We are called to preach the gospel, proclaim the good news for the expansion of the kingdom of God but unfortunately we have allowed the devil into our midst to sow tares. I read an article recently talking about DEMONS IN MINISTRATIONS. We are given powers to cast out demons but now demons are operating in our ministrations. Demons of angers, demons of fornication and adultery, demons of envy, demons of hatred, etc. as can be seen in the book of Galatians 5:19-21.

When we gather to pray and worship, we celebrate the grooving and goosebumps and also the effect of the sound system. We care less about the manifestation of God's glory. We take the grooving and the goosebumps as the presence of God. When we gather to pray, worship and sing praises, we become dramatic in order to catch the camera's attention so that we can appear on the screen. When we invite a guest minister and while we introduce them, we call them different titles making them the real deal and not God. You'd see instrumentalists getting drunk and becoming "high" before playing because they believe that's when they can perform better...where is the place of the Holy Spirit? You're called to be a gospel singer and you ended up becoming a minstrel (an entertainer)...maybe I should explain better, your purpose for being in the ministry is to draw the presence of God, and lead the congregation to worship God not to entertain the congregation with your talents.

Tares among the wheat!

The Sunday service meant to worship God and study His word now filled with different activities as its content because the service would be boring if those are not included...uhmm!. If other activities were to be observed other than worshipping God and studying His word, Jesus Christ shouldn't have driven those buying and selling in the synagogue Matthews 12:12.

I cannot name it all.

We are asleep and the devil is taking advantage of us. This is a call for us to awake from our sleep and put away the tares amidst us, because if we don't do now. The Gardener who is our Lord Jesus Christ shall at the end gather the wheat and the tares separately. Then the tares shall be burnt Matthew 13:30.

Conclusively, are you the wheat or the tares? This is a call for you to make corrections. Never mind what people would say. It is God who called you not the people except otherwise. Peter said we would rather obey God than the voice of man Acts 5:29. Do you know whether this is because of you? God might want you to make the needed corrections that's why you are reading this. Mind you, because people are doing it does not make it right. Depart and repent!

PRAYER POINT: Lord God, it is another day and we bless Your holy name. Thank You because Your word is settled in heaven. I have decided to take away the tares in me, help me to make necessary corrections and let Your grace be sufficient for me in Jesus' name. Amen.

One Shall Be Taken...

One shall be taken and the other be left behind. What does this mean to you? You understand it right? I guess yes. This phrase explain what rapture is.

Firstly, what is rapture? Rapture means the transportation of christians from this Earth to Heaven at the second coming of Jesus Christ. Rapture can also mean being caught up. Mark 13:26, Revelation 1:7, Matthews 24:30, Matthews 16:27, Acts 1:11. All these Bible verses talk about Jesus Christ coming back to take the saints away with Him from this polluted world.

I remember when I was much younger I had a revelation I didn't understand. I dreamt that the whole world was collapsing. People were running helter skelter. There was commotion every where. I heard that people were disappearing. Then it occured to me that it was rapture. Yes, I heard that people were disappearing and I thought it would soon be my turn to disappear but I didn't. All that could happen was that everywhere began to be cloudy and I saw myself turning black like someone who had been working in a coal mine. Not only was my clothes turning black, my palms were also turning black. Then I began to be afraid and threw myself in the ash wanting to whiten myself, but it didn't work. Everything happened in a flash. The fact that I couldn't be raptured saddened my heart when I got up from the sleep. It was a warming to me then to be careful.

The Bible says two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left behind (Matthews 24:41). Why would two be together and one be taken and the other be left behind? Because it is sure that it is not everyone that would be raptured.

Yes, you go to church. You're a member of a particular church. You might even sing in the choir and you're the most talented. You might even be a prayer champion. You might be the best at your service in that office you occupy in the church. Talent and salvation are two different things. Are you saved already? Is your name written in the book of life? The Bible says in the book of Revelation 20:15 "And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

Would your lifestyle make you be raptured? O careless christians. You who would say "let me do it, I will later ask for forgiveness." You deliberately commit sin and believe that God is graciously merciful that He would forgive you. Do you know that He -who is rich in mercy is also a consuming fire? You toil with God because you don't see Him.

You who wander about, being tossed to and fro. You don't stand firm on the faith you have believed. You are interested in the sermons that excite you, not the one that rebuke you. Ever since you claimed to be born again, yet no changes can be pointed at in your life as a genuinely born again. Ephesians 4:14 says, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive."

I was waiting for my turn to be raptured in that dream but it never happened. Maybe I felt I was good enough to make it. So are some among us. They think by their much effort and service to God they can make it to heaven. The Bible says nobody receives anything except God gives it from heaven (John 3:27). It takes the grace of God to be raptured not by much work. Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." If nobody gets saved by their effort likewise nobody can be raptured by their efforts -It takes the grace of God. Even the Bible warns that he who thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall (1 Corinthians 10:12)

As I once said in one of our previous posts that being saved is the priority, then your service to God. If everything has been fine with the church, God wouldn't have said that judgement shall begin from the church (see 1 Peter 4:17). We are to work out our faith with fear and trembling...serving God in obedience, fear and trembling (see Philippians 2:12-13)

Conclusively, "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:17). If judgement shall begin from the church. What would be your end? Yes, you that is seeing this and haven't given your life to Jesus Christ. You are yet to be born-again. Your procrastinate your salvation. You thought of enjoying your life before surrendering to Jesus Christ as if you own your life, like you know what and what shall happen to you at anytime. God doesn't want you to die a sinner. Give it up to Him this moment. That thing that takes your focus from your Creator. Repent and be saved today, tommorow may be too late.

PRAYER: Lord God, thank You for Your word today. Take my life I surrender all to You. Take away from me those things that shift my focus away from You. Help me to stand firm, unshakably till the end of my lifetime that I may enter into the place of rest and joy You have prepared for me in Jesus' name. Amen.

Guard Your Heart.

The Bible says the heart of man is desperately wicked, no man can know it.

The heart of a man is likened to a dumping site where anything can be dropped or dumped. Because the heart receives anything a man sees, hears or experiences. At first, the heart is a neutral ground but becomes whatever you feed it. The Bible describes the man's heart to be desperately wicked because wickedness (evil) has predominantly taken over the world. Ever since sin came, human beings always see themselves first before others. Some are self-centered, while some go to the extent of causing harm or inflicting pains on others. Which is why Jesus Christ, apostle Peter, apostle Paul and other apostles including the prophets called for us to take care of our heart. Jesus Christ warned us that it is not what we eat that defiles us but what comes out of us i.e. what comes from our heart. (Matthews 15:11)

Everything a person sees, hears or experiences is processed in the heart and as a result affects our behaviour (as studies revealed). Our heart is the ground for volition where we decide what to or not to do. Everyone becomes what we are today because of the decisions we made.

The heart, also being a seat of sin. Every unethical, illicit and immoral act comes from the heart. Then arises the need to guard our heart because whatever is conceived in a man's heart makes or mars him. It can lead to a man's success or fall (destruction).

Some people can't imagine good things happening to them because of what they have designated their heart to become. Guard your heart.

Some people had had suicidal thought, some are presently having suicidal thought while some will still have. Guard your heart.

Guard your heart so that you would not think evil against someone and want to kill or destroy their lives.

Guard your heart so that you can be free from immoral thoughts.

Guard your heart so that you would not die of depression.

Lastly, guard your heart because the heart is a battlefield and we need to conquer the enemy -Satan so that you won't fall apart.

Conclusively, as the Proverbs say, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it,” or “for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23; John 7:38) If you guard your heart with goodness, with Godliness (Ephesians 6:10-18), you will do well.

PRAYER POINT: Lord God my Father, thank You for always being God. You created me, help me to guard my heart so that I can become what You want me to be in Jesus'name. Amen.

Looking unto Jesus

The generalization that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God is an absolute fact. Peter in the book of Matthews 16:16 answering Jesus declared that He (Jesus) is the Son of the living God. The book of John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Jesus Christ was given to us to be our Confidant. He is the utmost Sacrifice given to bring peace to man's life. Then we must put our faith in Him because He is the only one capable to bring the peace our lives need. When we are faced or even overwhelmed with unpleasant situations, He is available to bring us out, only if we focus our attention on Him.

We need to look up to Him the same way the children of Israel did when in the wilderness. In the book of Numbers 21:8, Moses was told to make a bronze snake and then put it on the pole for as many that would look upon it might be saved from the sting and venom of the snake's bite.

The devil is terrifying many people with the issues of life and wants them perish. But Jesus Christ is made available for us. That for as many who would look up to Him (Jesus Christ) shall be saved. Jesus said in the book of John 16:33 which reads thus, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”

Jesus Christ is given all power in heavens and on earth, "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11).

Are you faced with challenges? Look up to Jesus.

Does it seem this is the end of you? Look up to Jesus.

Do you feel rejected and live a reproachful life? Look up to Jesus.

Are you sick, infested and dying? Look up to Jesus.

Are you weary, confused and forsaken? Look up to Jesus.

Are you afflicted, in pain and full of sorrow? Look up to Jesus.

That thing you can't tell your partners, friends, colleagues, family, etc. because you feel they would laugh you to scorn. My dear, look up to Jesus, and tell it to Him

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

He borne it all so that we can enjoy it all

HE IS THE ANSWER TO ALL YOU NEED. THE BEST SOLUTION, THE PERFECT ANSWER.

He is willing to save you, and He will carry you through.

PRAYER: Lord God, thank You for Your word tonight. I thank You Lord Jesus for being my anchor. I decide to look up to You. Take away every distraction that makes me lose focus on You in Jesus' name. Amen.
