Recently, we supported a father who lost both his wife and child to complications connected to Sickle Cell Disease. The mother was SS, and sadly, the child was also born SS.

In this modern age, these stories still exist.

Awareness, genotype testing, counselling, and early support can save lives and prevent pain.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t know where help would come fromโ€ฆโ€

That was the reality for a mother we met last weekend at the general hospital after her child living with sickle cell disease was admitted. The pain, the fear, the struggle to afford medication and treatment, it was overwhelming.

When we received the call, we stepped in the best way we could. We supported with medication, registered the child for health insurance, and reminded the family that they are not alone. Because every child deserves care, hope, and a chance to live healthier.
