Festus Fajemilo Foundation - FFF

Festus Fajemilo Foundation - FFF Promoting Disability Inclusion The Foundation is named after a boy (Festus) who developed hydrocephalus two months after he was born.

Festus Fajemilo Foundation (FFF) is a disability-focused non-governmental organization established in 2006 and registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1, 1990 Part C of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO. 24051). Festus’ parents found it hard to get any information and support, and his condition worsened, seriously limiting his development and requiring continuous and comple

x care. Appalled by the lack of affordable care, inadequate medical facilities, harmful taboos, and a pervasively negative attitude in the Nigerian society, Festus’ parents decided that urgent action was needed hence the birth of FFF. The Foundation is the pioneer non-profit organization in Nigeria advocating for and promoting the rights and socio-economic access, inclusion, and participation of persons living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH) as well as supporting initiatives targeted at primary prevention. FFF observed that children with SBH also develop other major impairments such as spinal cord injury, physical disability, intellectual and developmental disabilities, etc. Accordingly, FFF considered it necessary to also engage the mainstream disability community comprising other categories of disabilities to enhance awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for children and adults with SBH within the larger disability community in particular and the general public as a whole. As such, since 2009, FFF expanded its core activities to cover all types of disabilities while still committing significant attention to children and adults with SBH.

🚨 NATIONAL FOLIC ACID AWARENESS CAMPAIGN – TOGETHER, WE CAN PREVENT SPINA BIFIDA 🇳🇬

Healthy beginnings start before pregnancy.

Across Nigeria, too many families are still facing the lifelong impact of spina bifida, a preventable birth defect that affects the spine and can lead to disability, stigma, and significant financial burden.

Spina bifida occurs very early in pregnancy, often before a woman even knows she is pregnant.

But here is the truth:
Most cases can be prevented with adequate folic acid intake before and during early pregnancy.

🌍 A NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION!
Festus Fajemilo Foundation (FFF) is launching a nationwide Folic Acid Awareness Campaign with a bold goal to reach at least 10 million Nigerians (most especially women of child-bearing age) with life-saving information on folic acid awareness and Spina Bifida prevention.

🤝 This is a collective responsibility
We are calling on:

Festus Fajemilo Foundation - FFF launches a documentary showcasing the impact of donor support from the global North for children with disabilities in contemporary Nigeria.

For 17 years, Festus Fajemilo Foundation supported 103 children and young people with disabilities in education, health, vocational training, and economic empowerment. Apart from the direct beneficiaries, parents and caregivers, and the disability community at large benefited from diverse support.

FFF’s support to these individuals and groups would be impossible without funding from Liliane Foundation through our strategic partner organizations - Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul Nigeria & The Leprosy Mission Nigeria.

This documentary highlights the progress and the lives transformed through the Liliane Foundation’s support.
