*Gaza update: Humanitarian pauses offer a lifeline*

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes the news that Israel is prepared to implement humanitarian pauses, and that designated humanitarian corridors will be created to facilitate the safe movement of UN convoys delivering emergency food supplies and other aid to people in Gaza.

Right now, we are preparing to rush emergency food assistance into Gaza – enough to provide 2.1 million people for nearly 3 months. Last week alone, we delivered 350 truckloads of food under extreme danger.

*But it’s still not enough.*

📉 A third of Gaza's population is going without food for days.
⚠️ Nearly 500,000 people are enduring famine-like conditions.
👩‍👧 90,000 women and children urgently need nutrition treatment.

New humanitarian pauses and corridors give us hope – but only if:
✔️ More aid trucks are allowed into Gaza
✔️ Convoy approvals move faster
✔️ Roads are made safe and accessible
✔️ Guarantees that convoys won’t face shootings

Since May, WFP has brought in 22,000 tons of food. But we need 62,000 per month to reach everyone. An agreed ceasefire is the only way to make that happen.
