🇲🇽 On 11 June 2026, Chiara Merlin, member of our Association, participated in the evening organized by the Embassy of Mexico for the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico ⚽🌎

It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on how cooperation between States is not limited to traditional political channels, but finds a universal language in sports 🤝

Sports diplomacy shows us that shared passion fosters intercultural dialogue and strengthens strategic partnerships. Sport is never merely competition: it is a powerful catalyst for values, capable of uniting people and facilitating understandings that extend far beyond the playing field 🌐✨

We sincerely thank the Embassy of Mexico for this opportunity.

📢 A new analysis in the OSEI Observatory is out!

🔋 Zimbabwe sits at the heart of the global energy transition.

As Africa's leading lithium producer, the country has become a strategic destination for foreign investment, particularly from China. Yet a crucial question remains: who actually benefits from the lithium boom?

While the government has embraced a strategy of "Resource Nationalism 2.0" to increase domestic value creation and reduce dependence on raw mineral exports, persistent challenges continue to undermine inclusive development. Colonial-era legislation, weak institutional frameworks, corruption, and the marginalisation of artisanal miners have limited the ability of local communities to benefit from the sector's growth.

📊 Today, mining contributes 14% of Zimbabwe's GDP and 75% of export revenues, while Chinese actors control roughly 90% of the mining sector. At the same time, the country is attempting to move up the value chain through local lithium processing and export restrictions on raw minerals.

Can critical minerals become a driver of sustainable and inclusive development, or do they risk reproducing old patterns of dependency and exclusion?

✨ Episode 2 of “Discovering Algeria”! From Oran to the magic of Tlemcen 🇩🇿✨

Welcome back to the second chapter of our institutional mission! ✈️

After arriving in Oran, we woke up bright and early to explore the historic and beautiful city of Tlemcen. It was a day full of surprises and unforgettable moments:

☕️ We kicked things off with an incredible meeting with the Mayor in his stunning Arab-Ottoman town hall, enjoying typical sweets and Algerian tea while learning about the country’s powerful history.

🦇 We ventured into the famous Beni Add Caves in Ain Fezza, a breathtaking 700-meter-long natural spectacle at a refreshing 15°C (59°F)!

🕌 We were incredibly lucky to witness a special Friday Islamic prayer gathering before visiting the majestic Sidi Boumediene Mosque.

🎶 Greeted by joyful traditional Algerian singing, we enjoyed an absolutely spectacular feast.

🏰We explored the El Mechouar Citadel, discovering the beautiful meaning behind its tiles (blue for the sea, yellow for lemon trees, green for grass) and admiring traditional wedding costumes

🏛A breathtaking stop to marvel at the towering archaeological ruins of the Mansourah fortress.

An unforgettable day blending history, nature, and the warmest hospitality.

During Charlemagne Prize Week 2026, Riccardo Abbate, member of Mondo Internazionale APS, represented our association in Aachen, Germany.

After receiving the European Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2024, Mondo Internazionale APS returned to Germany this year as part of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize alumni community.

It was an intense and inspiring week, centred on dialogue and reflection among the 27 national winners of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize on the future of Europe and the role of younger generations in civic participation. The week also included the official Charlemagne Prize ceremony, awarded this year to Mario Draghi. 🌐

✨ Riccardo’s participation reflects Mondo Internazionale APS’s commitment to European civic education, youth engagement, and personal responsibility. From this experience, we bring back new insights, connections and a renewed awareness of the importance of building youth-driven spaces for European dialogue.
