EGBE OBAYORI ASIWAJU MOURNS THE PASSING OF OBA AWUJALE AND FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Date: Sunday, 13th July 2025

The Egbe Obayori Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of two iconic and revered national figures—His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, Ogbagba II, The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, and His Excellency, former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

In a statement released by the Publicity Secretary of the Egbe, Yori (Comrade) Akeem Temitope Akilo, the Giwa Egbe, Giwa Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, expressed profound grief over the loss, describing both the Awujale of Ijebuland and the former president as “great patriotic Nigerians whose departure will be greatly missed.”

“These were men of integrity and valour, whose contributions to the growth and unity of Nigeria will never be forgotten. Oba Adetona was a symbol of royal wisdom, cultural pride, and peace, while President Buhari dedicated much of his life to public service and the security of the nation,” Giwa Akogun Wale Anomo stated.

The Egbe Obayori Asiwaju extends its heartfelt condolences to the royal family of Ijebuland, the great people of Ijebuland, the people of Ogun State, the entire nation, and the families of both departed leaders. May their legacies continue to inspire future generations, and may their souls rest in perfect peace.
