This is to widen your Igede vocabulary.

THE IGEDE FAMILY

ADỊDA is the father.
ỊNỊNA is mother
ADỊDA ỌGBAHỊ is the grandfather.
ỊNỊNA ỌGBAHỊ is the grandmother.
ADỊDA ỌGBAHỊ OGOGO is the father of the grandfather.
ADỊDA OROGO-OROGO is the ancestral father.

By definition: the word ỌNYỊ mean: baby, child, daughter or son.

ỌNYỊ NYA ỌGBANYẸ is the family first born child. Either male or female.
The first male child is known as: ỌNYỊ ỌLẸNG NYA ỌGBANYẸ
Igede children are called: ANYỊ.
A child or children born in a matrimonial home are called: ỌNYỊ ỌLẸPWA Meaning: legitimate. Those born outside are: ỌNYỊ-IGU Meaning: bastard
However, when the bastard finally comes home he or she becomes ỌNYỊ ỌLẸPWA
Children of the same father but different mothers are called: ANYADỊDA and children born of the same mothers, but different fathers are called ANYỊNỊNA
Note that one child is known as ỌNYỊ and when they are more than one they are known as ANYỊ .
Uncle is called ADA-ỤBWỌ, he is your father and mother's brother. Also, the sister of your father and mother in called ỊNẸ-ỤBWỌ. And
ANYỊ-ỤBWỌ are your cousins because they are the children of your uncles and aunties. ỌNYỊ-ỌNAM is your nephew or niece because he or she is your brother or sister's child.
ỌNYỊ-ỌTỤMA is the grandchild. ANYỊ-APA are your great-grandchildren.
UGBIYEGU NYAM is my family. ỌNẸGBA NYANG is your linage. EPWEJI NYAMWỤ is his or her village or community. ẸPWỤMA NYAHỊ is our clan, nation, or country.

IGEDE-AGBA CELEBRATION: RT HON DAVID OGEWU TOURS CHURCHES WITH GOODWILL MESSAGE, PREACHES UNITY AND HARMONIOUS COEXISTENCE.

As events build up for the commemoration of this year's Igede-Agba festival and other programs that are lined up for the season, member representing Oju/Obi Federal constituency, Rt Hon (Evang) David Ogewu this Sunday, September the 3rd, 2023 took tour of churches within Oju metropolis with season's greetings and goodwill messages.

The tour which started off at Living Faith Church, Ichakobe proceeded to other churches including, Bishop Okwoche Methodist Cathedral, Anyuwogbu-Ibilla and AGC Anyuwogbu, RCCG, Anyuwogbu. Other churches also visited are Methodist Church Nigeria, Ihiejwo, AGC secretariat, Igede as well as AGC Zion Hill, Ikachi.

In each of the churches visited Evang Ogewu, emphasised the need for the people to live together in peace and harmony and he admonished against clannish bias.

He assured the people that he was committed as their representative and Chief servant to ensure that the land is transformed for good. He prayed that anything that would stand in the way of the growth of Igede land would be faced out by God.

Rt Hon David Ogewu also used the opportunity to intimate the congregants about the forthcoming special Igede programs coming up between 7th and 8th of September, 2023 which he maintained that will avail an ample opportunity for Oligede to sit together on a round table to deliberate and chart a course for the growth of the land.

He also informed them that dignitaries at different capacities will be coming for the programs who will have firsthand experience of the plight of the people particularly in infrastructural decay.

Financial largesse were extended to different individuals and groups in the course of the tour.
