AKOKO-EDO VISION MOVEMENT CONGRATULATES HON. ROBERT AKANDE ON HIS INAUGURATION AS CHAIRMAN OF AKOKO-EDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The Akoko-Edo Vision Movement (AVM) heartily congratulates Hon. Robert Akande on his successful swearing-in and inauguration as the Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area today at the Edo State Government House, Benin City.

This historic occasion marks not only the commencement of a new administration at the local government level but also another significant chapter in the collective journey toward a more united, progressive and prosperous Akoko-Edo.

As a movement deeply committed to the advancement of Akoko-Edo and the well-being of her people, we recognize this inauguration as a call to service and an opportunity to translate the aspirations of our people into meaningful and measurable development.

ANNEWAT, Akoko-Edo Chapter* yesterday paid a solidarity and endorsement visit to *Otunba Hon. Oladele Bankole-Balogun Esq.,* the All Progressives Congress candidate for House of Representatives, Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency. The visit took place at Otunba’s residence in Akoko-Edo and was marked by warm reception and strong engagement.

During the meeting, the leadership and members of *ANNEWAT* declared their unwavering support for Otunba Bankole-Balogun ahead of the forthcoming General Election. *Akoko-Edo HoR 2027: Time to Separate Competence from the Unproven*

From *August 19th, 2026*, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will lift the ban on campaigns. That date marks the beginning of a clear choice for Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency: between proven competence and untested ambition.

That choice is *Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun*.

Without doubt, the people of Akoko-Edo know that Otunba Bankole-Balogun is the best bet to deliver the dividends of democracy. From Okpe, my immediate constituency, to Lampese, and across all 50+ communities that make up Akoko-Edo, the message is the same. I can testify to this: the people are solidly behind him.

The momentum toward the *January 16th, 2027* election is building. The people are ecstatic and resolute. They want a leader who is competent, experienced, vibrant, connected, articulate, and capable. They are not interested in a group of newcomers with ambition but without track record.

Democratic representation is not about selfish interest. Its core aim is to speak for the people. Akoko-Edo will not elect anyone who places personal ambition above the interest of the constituency.

The people are wide awake. They can identify those whose politics is built on ethnic reliance and personal gain. That era is over. We are in an era where politics must be treated as serious collective business.

Akoko-Edo wants policies that will change lives, not politics that puts money in personal pockets. The people want a representative who will speak boldly for them on the floor of the Green Chamber, not one who will hide there.

Under *Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun*, Akoko-Edo will witness visible and impactful development. This will not be built on empty promises, but on a record of public service and accomplishment. The evidence abound.

Otunba is not just a committed son of Akoko-Edo. He is accessible to all, irrespective of ethnicity or political affiliation. That is why he enjoys massive support across the entire constituency. His agenda is the *Akoko-Edo Agenda* — not an Igarra agenda, not an Okpameri agenda, not an Okpe agenda, not an Enwan agenda. He is a unifying force in the diversity that makes Akoko-Edo politically strong.

Other candidates from various parties must first aspire to match Otunba’s standard. They must build credibility and integrity in public service. They must offer solutions beyond the rhetoric that average politicians without track records are known for. None of the fairly known candidates can match Otunba’s earned dedication to service. The people are not ready to gamble on new entrants.

Come January 2027, Akoko-Edo will speak with one voice, as we have always done. The people are confident in Otunba and will be satisfied with him as their representative.

He has a good working relationship with the Presidency, with the Edo State Governor, His Excellency *Senator Monday Okpebholo*, with our leader *Comrade Adams Oshiomhole*, and most importantly, with Akoko-Edo leaders and voters. That is the easiest path to development for Akoko-Edo.

THE TIME TO BUILD AKOKO-EDO'S POLITICAL STRENGTH IS NOW

History does not remember communities that merely complain; it remembers those that deliberately build leaders with the capacity to influence decisions where it matters.

As the people of Akoko-Edo, this is the defining moment to invest in leadership that commands respect, earns confidence, and secures opportunities for our people. We must consciously raise leaders whose character is unquestionable, whose experience is proven, whose education and competence are evident, whose connections open doors, and whose leadership inspires progress.

The politics of division has held us back for too long. The future we desire can only be achieved when we see ourselves first as one united Akoko-Edo, setting aside ethnic sentiments and embracing our common destiny.

Barrister Bankole Oladele Balogun represents the calibre of leadership our constituency deserves. He possesses the vision, the courage, the capacity, and the strategic reach to elevate the profile of Akoko-Edo on the national stage. Leaders of his pedigree do not merely occupy offices—they shape policies, build lasting institutions, and create pathways for future generations.

Our aspiration should not stop at producing a member of the House of Representatives. We must deliberately nurture leaders who can, in the years ahead, compete for and win the highest offices in Edo State, including the governorship. That journey begins with making the right choice today.

RE: AKOKO-EDO WILL DECIDE ON FACTS, NOT ANONYMOUS PROPAGANDA

The attention of the OBB Media Campaign Team has been drawn to yet another anonymous and faceless publication making the rounds on social media. Ordinarily, we would not dignify such publications with a response. However, because falsehood left unanswered can mislead some members of the public, we consider it necessary to set the record straight.

First, let it be stated unequivocally that Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun (OBB) has the utmost respect for every traditional ruler in Akoko-Edo. Over several decades of public service, professional life and community engagement, he has built enduring relationships across every part of our constituency. No fair-minded person can credibly accuse him of disregarding our revered royal fathers or the institutions they represent. Those who truly know Akoko-Edo know this to be an indisputable fact.

The anonymous writer would rather resort to innuendo than engage the real issues confronting our people. Instead of discussing education, healthcare, youth employment, roads, agriculture, security and economic development, they have chosen to manufacture controversies and spread misinformation.

The suggestion that travelling abroad is somehow a political offence is both absurd and unserious. Every Nigerian is constitutionally entitled to freedom of movement. Whether one travels to London or anywhere else, using legitimately earned private resources, has absolutely no bearing on one’s commitment to public service. Leadership is measured by integrity, competence, vision and results—not by the number of days spent posing for photographs.

The allegation that OBB has abandoned the people is equally baseless. His commitment to Akoko-Edo did not begin with the 2027 election, nor will it end after it. His record of service, both in public office and within our communities, is well known and available for public scrutiny. Those who seek to rewrite history with anonymous publications will not succeed.

The publication also makes sweeping allegations regarding the APC nomination process without presenting a shred of evidence. Political parties have established constitutional procedures for selecting their candidates. Anyone with a genuine grievance knows the lawful avenues available to ventilate such concerns. Anonymous social media propaganda is certainly not one of them.

As for the repeated references to “Abuja connections,” we make no apology for OBB’s ability to build productive relationships across Nigeria. Every effective legislator must be able to engage governments, institutions and stakeholders for the benefit of his constituency. Such relationships are assets to Akoko-Edo, not liabilities.

We welcome robust political competition. Democracy thrives when candidates present their ideas, records and programmes to the electorate. What diminishes our politics is the circulation of anonymous publications filled with speculation, distortions and half-truths instead of constructive engagement.

The people of Akoko-Edo deserve better. They deserve a campaign founded on truth, civility and substance. Let every candidate present his vision. Let every candidate defend his record. Let the electorate ask hard questions of all contestants. And on election day, let the people freely decide.

OBB remains focused on offering experienced, accountable and inclusive representation for every community in Akoko-Edo, irrespective of ward, clan or political persuasion. He has consistently stood for a united Akoko-Edo where no one is discriminated against because of where they come from, and where merit, fairness and justice prevail over division and ethnic politics.

The 2027 election will not be decided by anonymous social media posts, blackmail or propaganda. It will be decided by the good people of Akoko-Edo, based on facts, character, competence, integrity and a clear vision for the future of our Federal Constituency.

The APC Flagbearer for the House of Representatives, Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Otunba Oladele "Oteniête" Bankole-Balogun, Esq., has outlined his vision for an education system that not only promotes academic excellence but also equips young people with practical skills, innovation, and entrepreneurial capacity to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

Speaking on the future of education in Akoko-Edo, Bankole-Balogun observed that investing in human capital remains one of the most effective pathways to sustainable development.
