Dear WatchGreen UNIZIK Community,

As World Earth Day approaches on April 22nd, 2024, we are excited to invite you to join us in celebrating and advocating for our planet. This year's theme, Planet Vs Plastics, highlights the urgent need for taking critical measures to curtail the effect of plastic waste on our ecosystem. Together, let's take action and make a positive impact on the environment.

We have planned a series of engaging activities and initiatives to commemorate World Earth Day, including waste games, presentations and panel discussions. Whether you're passionate about sustainability, biodiversity or climate action, there's something for everyone to get involved in🌿

The power of leveraging technology to inspire Climate and sustainability conversations can not be overemphasized!

Through our "The VOICE" project we harness the power of technology to amplify climate conversations on campus Nnamdi Azikiwe University. 🎥🌳💚

We took to the heart of our university to capture raw, unfiltered thoughts on environmental challenges. Students shared their concerns and offered invaluable advice on how we can collectively combat these issues.

Leveraging cutting-edge technology, we transformed these voices into a powerful video, bringing attention to the environmental pulse of our campus. Our commitment to using tech for positive change remains unwavering.

"TheVOICE" is more than a project; it is a movement that sparks dialogue, encourages sustainable solutions, and fosters a sense of shared responsibility for our environment.

The WatchGreen UNIZIK community is thrilled to announce that our recent courtesy visit with the university's esteemed Vice Chancellor, Charles Esimone was nothing short of inspiring! 🎉🤩

His enthusiasm for the Club's initiatives has fueled our passion for sustainable change on campus.

During our meeting, the Vice Chancellor shared invaluable advice on how we can elevate our impact and contribute even more meaningfully to the university's sustainability goals. His wisdom and guidance are catalysts for a future where our club becomes a powerhouse of environmental innovation and positive change. The Vice Chancellor emphasised his primary interest in promoting a grener and healthier Nnamdi Azikiwe Universitytyy taking all ZIKITES along in this initiative of change and impact.

With a shared commitment to a greener, more sustainable future, we're excited to implement these insights, amplify our efforts, and reach new heights of success. Our journey toward a more eco-conscious campus has just received a significant boost!

Deforestation is a major obstacle to climate action, as it releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and reduces the number of trees that can absorb these gases. We need to take action now to save our forests and protect our climate. Without trees, our planet will continue to warm, leading to more extreme weather events, sea level rise, and disruptions to wildlife. Let's take action to conserve and restore our forests, for the sake of our planet and future generations. We can start by reducing our consumption of products made from trees, supporting organizations that are working to protect forests, and planting more trees.

This is one if the initiative that WatchGreen Unizik has to offer.

I welcome you all to this club, WatchGreen UNIZIK. First, I want to appreciate you all for following us here on Facebook

As an introduction , this club is also an initiative of Green Environment and Climate Change Initiative-GECCI but exclusively for undergraduate students of UNIZIK. GECCI is an NGO in partnership with other NGOs and the Ministry of Environment.

WatchGreen UNIZIK was initiated to service the need for Environmental consciousness among UNIZIK students.
Youths all over the world are the core pioneers of climate justice and environmental sustainability, so what other place will one find motivated and intellectually sound youths other than the university?
