Damien Foundation Belgium Nigeria Project

Damien Foundation Belgium Nigeria Project Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control. Damien Foundation Nigeria is an affiliate of Damien Foundation Belgium.

We are commited to long-term battle against two specific diseases, leprosy and tuberculosis. The focused nature of our work sets our Foundation apart from other non-governmental organizations. We help in setting up easily accessible, sustainable, high-quality programmes. However, we limit our project work to specific regions in Nigeria. This is because our project commitment is a long-term one. Cu

rrently Damien Foundation operates in nine (9) states in Nigeria namely Oyo, Osun, Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Kwara, Delta, Ondo, and Edo State. We collaborate with the State and Local government of the states in which we operate for smooth running of our activities.

During the World TB Day 2026 flag-off in Ibadan, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Adewumi Ajetunmobi, alongside top officials from the State Ministry of Health, Damien Foundation Belgium, and other key partners, came together with one clear message: it is time to move beyond awareness to decisive action through stronger policies and resilient health systems.

The event was not just symbolic—it delivered real impact within the community through:

🛑 Free TB screening and essential healthcare services
🛑 Free chest X-rays for early and accurate TB diagnosis
🛑 Community sensitization and awareness on tuberculosis
🛑 TB survivor stories to inspire hope and reduce stigma

Together, we are strengthening the fight against tuberculosis and bringing lifesaving services closer to the people who need them most.

Tuberculosis (TB) is preventable and curable—but early detection is key.

If you or someone you know has a persistent cough, fever, weight loss, or night sweats, don’t ignore the signs. Get tested early and seek care immediately.

Together, we can stop TB and save lives.

Behind every TB statistic, there is a human story.

As we mark World Tuberculosis Day 2026, meet Mr. Babalola Lateef, a businessman, a baker, a provider… and a TB survivor.
When he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, it didn’t just affect his health, it challenged his livelihood, his strength, and his hope.
But TB is not the end of the story.
With the right care, support, and determination, Mr. Babalola fought back… and won.
His journey is a powerful reminder that:
✨ TB is curable
✨ Early detection saves lives
✨ No one should face TB alone

Through the support of partners like the Global Fund and Damien Foundation, free testing and treatment are giving people a second chance at life.

Today, Mr. Babalola stands strong, a living testimony that recovery is possible.
If you have been coughing for two weeks or more, don’t ignore it. Don’t self-medicate.

Get tested. Seek care. Treatment is FREE.
Every survivor is proof that we can end TB.

Yes! We Can End TB – Led by Countries. Powered by People.

Ending TB is not just an aspiration — it is achievable.

As we mark World Tuberculosis Day 2026, Damien Foundation joins the global call:

📢 Yes! We can end TB — led by countries, powered by people.

This year’s message is one of hope and action. Together, we can turn the tide through:

🔹 Decisive Leadership – Strong political will and country-driven solutions
🔹 Increased Investment – Closing the care gap with sustainable funding
🔹 Rapid Innovation – Expanding access to faster diagnosis and shorter treatments
🔹 Community Power – People-centered care that is accessible, affordable, and stigma-free

TB remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases — but it is preventable and treatable.

Every person reached.
Every case detected.
Every life supported.

…brings us closer to a TB-free world.

Let’s act now. Because ending TB is powered by YOU.
