CHRISTIAN INVOLVEMENT IN POLITICS : impediment or catalyst to the spread of Gospel?!
Can Christian participate in Politics?
A good Christian can not be a good politician because of the worldly corruption.
Politics is a dirty game. And lots of words like these are the ones that have prompted this opinion. I am not enforcing anyone to accept this has a final verdict, but it is meant to be learning from.
Our ignorance cannot be prayed out, but can only be worked upon through learning whereby increasing our knowledge. Ignorance does not mean what you do not know, but what you have ignored to know and that is why God will reject whosoever refuses what he should have known Hosea 4:6.
In another vein, nobody will be responsible for your ignorant as you have everything with you to understand what God has in store for you. Aside from the fact of ignorance, there are still some people who Satan have raised to pollute what the real Gospel stands for, and like Angel of Light (full of energy and creativity) logically misled people from the truth of the Word.
The question, 'can Christian participate in Politics?' is like asking, 'Can Christian go to School?'. As a matter of fact, our lives revolve around politics the moment you have a choice, you become a politician. Preaching Christian out of politics might be very hypocritical in nature, because if that Christian should not participate in politics we should not have honour them while coming to visit our Church. And instead of discouraging politics outrightly, we can simply educate each other on how to be earthly relevant and heavenly conscious.
This generation is struggling with the change of constitution and the likes. Iran today was under a tyrant government and gradually America is stepping away from what have once established them. God did not say that we should not participate in politics as a matter of fact, one of the purpose of Emmanuel (Jesus) is that 'government will be upon His shoulder'. But today, having been equipped in the Church with different skills to launch into mission field of the world to manifest it so as to become Royal Priesthood, we bouch it through discouraging our people out of politics and the one (who arrogantly) participated mostly use their influence against the Church and at the return of it, they are called, 'political idiot', you will agree with me on the havoc that some Church members have caused their Church through what they signed or agree to, For example, the Retirement of Pastor E. A. Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian Church of God and government meddling into Church matter in which the government denied her only to confess to the fact that all was handed over to them by the members within the Church. Is not and never an understatement to say that, God is never happy with our (Church) stand towards politics Psalm 78:9.
How often, our Fathers in the Lord will canvassed us to register for voter's card, but they look at you with so much disdain when you really want to participate in that politics that can be either ignorant or hypocritical. Yoruba Adage will say that, 'Kin se ẹni tó gbé epo l'oke ajá lólè, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tó bá gba gan lólè.' that is, Is not the person that goes into roof to steal palm oil that is thief, but the person that aided him to collect it under the roof. So, at times, it is not that God is not feeling our plight, but you cannot use your thumb to sign up for Satan and be expecting God to help you to log out such Satan that you intentionally signed up (have you turn God into your errand boy?).
On the issue that politics do corrupt Christians, this is a blunt lie from the pit of hell. Whosoever that will be corrupt even without politics will still be corrupt. Like what Jesus made us to understand that it is not what that goes into our mouth that corrupt man, but what is in the man. Man is or can be highly deceptive and not until the last breath of every man, there is a limit to man can withstand some pressure and that is why we must always go along in the power of God and its might. Depending on your strength will break you not down alone, but into piece.
On the dirtiness of politics, I will like to submit that nothing is dirty about politics, but the players have made it to be so. And as agent of Change which we have been called to be, we can decided to wash it clean with the blood of Jesus which has cleanse us from all impurities. Sanctify the tree and the fruit thereof shall be sanctified.
Finally, Yoruba will say, 'whatever we neglect is what dog will take'. I was listening to Senator Shehu Sani sometimes ago Where he was narrating how General Abubakar was pleading with the all the activists prior to 1999 General Election saying, that he will like to handover to people who really fought for democracy, he continued to say that they replied him that they fought against Military junta so as to rule and that the man has no other option than to handed us over to politicians who will tell us sort of lies while stealing our resources. I just use that one as preamble to what I was about to write here. I want to submit here that no seat can be vacant for any reason if you are not ready to occupy it, Satan will fill in his own candidate and that is why the Bible has given clue to that, 'when righteous is in power, people rejoice, but when the wicked is in power people mourn'. Mind you if we continue on the path of neglecting the governing part of our Lord Jesus Christ, we might end up been choked on to a corner and zipped us up. So, next time you hear people praying to become President, governor or any other political office don't say, 'Amen', because whoever will be one must join politics as nobody can graduate from School which he did not attend as such will be mounting to fraud.
