The first step in solving a community problem is not designing a solution. It is understanding the problem well enough to know what actually needs to change.

At the AmpliYouth Advocacy Academy 4.0, Mary Pius took participants through a practical framework for moving from problem identification to action, covering community research, advocacy objectives, stakeholder mapping, project planning, impact measurement and sustainability.

The focus was simple: understand the problem, involve the people affected, define the change and build a project that can be measured and sustained.

PROBLEM → OBJECTIVE → STRATEGY → ACTION → IMPACT

A good idea can have the power to change lives, but if people cannot understand it, connect with it or trust it, it may never move beyond the idea.

At the AmpliYouth Innovation & Advocacy Lab, Hassana Suleiman examined how advocates can turn ideas into compelling impact stories by combining a clear narrative, credible evidence, human connection and a strong call to action.

The focus was simple: move from having an idea to giving people a reason to believe in it and act on it.

IDEA → STORY → TRUST → BELIEF → ACTION

🎉 Brain Teaser Wednesday Winner!

We have another double winner! 🏆

Last week, our Instagram winner came back and won again. This week, it’s Facebook’s turn!

Congratulations to our Facebook winner for cracking this week’s teaser and completing all three steps. 👏

For Instagram, we had a correct answer, but the entry did not meet all the eligibility requirements.

The correct answer was C: He is too short to reach the 20th-floor button. On rainy days, he uses his umbrella to reach the button.

Thank you to everyone who participated! Remember, to be eligible to win, you must like, comment, and share the post.

Will we have another double winner next week? 👀

🧠 Brain Teaser Wednesday is here!

This week’s challenge will test how closely you pay attention to the details. 👀

A man lives on the 20th floor, but every day, something makes him stop at the 10th floor. On rainy days, however, he goes straight to the 20th.

Why? 🤔

A, B, C or D? Drop your answer in the comments! 👇

Good advocacy needs more than a strong message. It needs the right people to see it, understand it and act on it.

In this session of the AmpliYouth Innovation & Advocacy Lab, Amina Ibrahim Manzo broke down how advocates can turn a clear issue into strategic visibility, from choosing the right audience and format to building messages that move beyond their own platforms.

The lesson was simple: visibility is not the goal. The goal is to make the issue seen, understood and acted upon.

MESSAGE → VISIBILITY → INFLUENCE → ACTION → CHANGE

Sometimes, what matters most isn't the loudest thing asking for our attention.

A missed call.
A quiet question.
A person who almost didn't ask.

David could have ended the call quickly. Instead, he stayed long enough to listen. And that small choice gave Evelyn the courage to walk through a door she wasn't sure was meant for her.

🌱 Pay attention to what, and who, you might be overlooking. You never know what could grow from it.

In a world where information travels faster than verification, knowing what to trust matters.

In this session of AmpliYouth Advocacy Academy 4.0, Damilare Akinola explored how misinformation, disinformation and malinformation spread, and what young people can do to verify information before sharing it.

The lesson was simple: being informed is not just about consuming information. It is about questioning, checking and taking responsibility for what we help spread.

PAUSE → VERIFY → THINK → SHARE WISELY

Advocacy needs both a message that connects and the integrity to stand behind it.

Hassana Suleiman explored how storytelling, media and creative communication can move people from awareness to action, while Paulina Leon Avalos, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Associate at UNODC, examined how young people can build a stronger culture of integrity and accountability.

Different topics, one shared lesson: meaningful advocacy requires more than visibility. It takes clear communication, informed action and the responsibility to use your voice well.

STORY → CONNECTION → ACTION
INTEGRITY → ACCOUNTABILITY → CHANGE

Dr. Adaobi Ugwu led the session on Human-Centered Design for Advocacy, helping participants rethink how they identify problems, involve communities and develop solutions that can be tested, refined and sustained.

The focus was simple: move from designing for people to designing with people.

PROBLEM → PEOPLE → SOLUTION → TEST → IMPACT

🎉 Brain Teaser Wednesday Winners!

We have a double winner!

Last week’s Instagram winner came back, cracked this week’s teaser, and was once again the fastest to get it right and complete all three steps.

The correct answer was B: The surgeon is his mother.

Congratulations to our Facebook and Instagram winners! 👏 And thank you to everyone who participated.

Will our double winner make it three next week, or will someone else take the crown?
