One of the highlights of this year’s International Youth Day commemoration was celebrating the winners of our game sessions with prizes. Solokad one of our partners donated a 16L Knapsack Sprayer, farm boots and a watering can. We also got a donation of a Notepad from our longest-standing partner on our Agribusiness desk . Our guests also got to taste a new groundnut cake product from Olanreforward, a multiple award-winning SME.

But beyond the prizes, one of our winners told us, “Onelife Initiative was the one who first introduced my hands into the soil.” That one sentence meant a lot because impact is not something readily captured during an event. It’s been years coming. It is about the skills someone picks up, the opportunities they discover and the confidence to take what they have learnt and build something with it.

The conversation about gender justice does NOT need more men, it needs ALL men in the room.

On 13th August 2026, our Executive Director will be moderating sessions at the Men's Summit on Ending Child Marriage in Abuja anchored by YouthHub Africa; a space designed specifically for men who are ready to move beyond awareness into action.
Because issues of child marriage and building gender-just communities is not a women's issue waiting for women to fix. It is a human issue and men who are decision makers are a critical part of the solution.

Four Countries. One Goal.

This week, we united with incredible colleagues from , , , and for a powerful cross-learning exchange focused on strategic communication within our broader SRHR engagements. The creativity on display was unmatched! We dove deep into grassroots communication strategies driving real change at the community level, including: Parliamentary & participatory theatre, High-energy flash mobs, Interactive community theatre, and Informal community hangouts.

Happening Now!

Healthcare providers in Ekiti State are actively transforming how we protect women’s health. We are training , , and to operationalize the new SToP Guidelines, in close collaboration with the Ekiti State Ministry of Health and Human Resources.

It is inspiring to witness rapid shifts in social norms and values surrounding critical healthcare delivery. By equipping providers with a full spectrum of care; from preventive education to safe management options, we are actively dismantling the barriers that cause maternal mortality. As this cohort wraps up this , these trained professionals are ready to hit the ground running; saving lives, preventing injuries, and securing a safer future for our and .

For us, success may be the unseen moment when a young woman chooses to abstain or use a contraceptive method to prevent an unplanned pregnancy. These are outcomes we cannot always measure because they happen in private and usually go unreported.

What we can do is ensure that women and girls of reproductive age have access to accurate, evidence-based information through our peer-to-peer sessions on our GAC project and are also empowered to use that knowledge when faced with real life decisions. If they are able to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health, then we can gladly say we have achieved something meaningful, even if we cannot always quantify it. That to us is success.

Some of the best lessons don't happen in a classroom.

Every week, our interns and volunteers take on a presentation during our team meeting. It's one of the ways we help them build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and learn to think on their feet.

Today, we had two presentations from our volunteers that led to new learnings for them. Was there a bit of nervousness? maybe a lot of nervousness even. But with each presentation, they get better at it and become more confident speakers.

The better they get at it, the quicker they can take on presentations on the field. 🧡

Victory, freedom, and an answered prayer for Nigeria! Our children are finally FREE and alive after weeks of agonizing captivity! We are bursting with joy, sending endless gratitude to our gallant security officers and the state and federal authorities who pushed tirelessly to bring our babies home.

As we celebrate this massive win and pray for beautiful family reunions, our biggest mission now is ensuring these brave children are healed, supported, and deeply motivated to return to the classroom where they belong. But even in our dancing, our hearts break for a true hero of Nigerian education. We honour the memory of the dedicated teacher who was tragically killed while in captivity and another during the incident. It's a profound loss that proves education in Nigeria cannot continue under siege. We cannot fully celebrate freedom while our classrooms remain targets. The ultimate tribute to this fallen educator is not just tears, but a fierce, unyielding commitment to transforming the safety of our schools so that no teacher or student ever has to pay the ultimate price for seeking knowledge.

The Nigerian Government must seize this critical moment to turn this relief into permanent safety by executing immediate, next-step reforms. We urge the government to heavily invest in the Safe Schools Declaration protocols, deploy active 24/7 security tech and fencing around vulnerable regional schools, and provide immediate, specialized trauma support for these rescued children. True national progress starts in the classroom, and our government must make school security the absolute highest priority.

It is still Girls and Women O’Clock in Ekiti State. We’re keeping the momentum going by checking in with our Community Champions on the frontlines. Our team recently visited active, trained Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) to listen, learn, and improve how basic community reproductive health services reach adolescent girls.

The verdict? We are making strides, but there is always room to do more. With the incredible support of the Ipas Nigeria Health Foundation, we delivered essential commodities to our PPMV partners to boost their service delivery. Appreciations to the Ekiti State Ministry of Health and Human Services for consistently backing our efforts to leave no one behind in healthcare.
