NYCN OYO SET TO INAUGURATE NEWLY ELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT YOUTH EXECUTIVES AND FLAG OFF YCATEM CAMPAIGN

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State Chapter, is set to host the inauguration of newly elected Local Government Youth Executives and the official flag-off of the Youth Campaign Against Thuggery and Electoral Malpractices (YCATEM) Project.

The landmark event is aimed at strengthening youth leadership structures at the grassroots level, promoting responsible youth participation, and encouraging a culture of peaceful engagement, accountability, and democratic values among young people across Oyo State.

The inauguration will officially usher in the newly elected Local Government Youth Executives, providing them with a platform to take up their leadership responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to youth development, community advancement, and effective representation at the local government level.

The flag-off of YCATEM Project will serve as a strategic youth-driven campaign to sensitize young people against political thuggery, violence, and electoral malpractice while promoting peaceful elections, civic responsibility, and active participation in democratic processes.

Speaking on the preparation, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Amb Oluwatobi Akintayo, stated that the committee is committed to delivering a successful and impactful programme through effective coordination, teamwork, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The event is expected to bring together NYCN leaders, youth representatives, government officials, community stakeholders, civil society organizations, and other partners committed to advancing youth leadership and peaceful democratic participation.

Through this initiative, NYCN Oyo reaffirms its commitment to building a generation of responsible young leaders who will contribute positively to the growth and development of Oyo State.

Youth Dialogue Series 1.0 – Ibadan Less City Zonal Engagement

Yesterday, the Ibadan Less City Zone successfully hosted youth stakeholders for a zonal engagement tagged Series 1.0, with participants drawn from six (6) local government areas within the zone: Akinyele, Egbeda, Ido, Lagelu, Oluyole, and Ona Ara Local Government Areas.

The engagement featured a robust and engaging dialogue focused on irregular migration and the opportunities available within the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) at the local government level. Stakeholders openly discussed the realities facing young people, the risks associated with illegal migration, and the need to strengthen youth structures and participation at the grassroots.

The Oyo State Chairman of the National Youth Council Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, Comr. Eniola Alex Oluwatimilehin, while addressing participants, encouraged youths of the Ibadan Less City Zone to be proactive, responsible, and fully engaged as the NYCN Local Government Elective Congress approaches. He emphasized the importance of youth leadership, unity, and active participation in shaping the future of the Council and youth development in Oyo State.

Discussions during the dialogue also highlighted several challenges confronting youths at the local government level, including limited opportunities, engagement gaps, and welfare concerns. Participants were given the opportunity to share experiences and propose practical solutions aimed at strengthening youth development and representation across the zone.

In his remarks, the Ibadan Less City Zonal Chairman, Amb. Akintayo Oluwatobi used the platform to encourage all stakeholders present to actively participate in NYCN programmes and initiatives as they are gradually rolled out across the zone. He reaffirmed the commitment of the zonal leadership to the growth, empowerment, and welfare of youths, stressing that inclusive engagement remains a top priority.

The Series 1.0 marked a significant step toward strengthening collaboration among youth stakeholders, amplifying youth voices, and repositioning the Ibadan Less City Zone as a hub for proactive youth engagement and development.
