The Power of Influence

Leadership is often misunderstood as control, but control is limited. You can use authority to make people act, but you cannot use authority to make people believe. And belief is what sustains commitment.

Influence is different. It is built over time through consistency, credibility, and trust. It is what makes people follow not just your instructions, but your direction. If people only respond when you are present, you have control. If people continue to act in alignment even when you are absent, you have influence.

Real leadership is measured by what continues in your absence. Because the goal is not to be needed for everything, the goal is to build something that can function because of what you have instilled.

Focus on building trust and credibility that strengthens your influence over time.

A mentor, coach, or even a structured community can help you avoid common mistakes, gain clarity faster, and stay accountable. You don’t need to struggle through every phase alone. Sometimes, one conversation with someone ahead of you can save you months of confusion.

Growth is faster when you learn from experience. Not just your own, but others. Find someone ahead of you and learn from them intentionally.

The Badeku Medical Outreach was more than a health intervention, it was a moment of connection between care and community. In a place where access to basic health support can often feel distant, we saw people show up with hope, trust, and openness.

From basic health checks to consultations and counselling, every interaction reminded us that healthcare is not just medical, it is deeply human. Behind every blood pressure reading, every conversation, and every prescription was a person seeking not just treatment, but attention, dignity, and reassurance.

For us at Valuemakers Transformative Network (VTN), this outreach reflects a bigger mission: building systems that prioritize people, strengthen communities, and bridge gaps in access and awareness. It is part of a long-term commitment to youth involvement, volunteerism, and community-driven impact across Africa.

To every volunteer, supporter, and community member who made this possible, thank you for believing in the power of service. We move forward not just with memories of what was done, but with responsibility for what still needs to be done.
