**Celebrating World Spinal Cord Injury Day – September 5, 2025**

On September 5, 2025, we join the global community in celebrating World Spinal Cord Injury Day, a vital initiative led by the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). This day shines a spotlight on the strength and resilience of individuals living with spinal cord injuries (SCI) while raising awareness about prevention and care.

This year’s theme, "Fall Prevention, Spinal Cord Protection," underscores the critical need to address falls, a leading cause of SCI. Falls can occur anywhere—homes, workplaces, or public spaces—and simple actions like improving home safety, promoting workplace ergonomics, and educating communities can make a profound difference. By fostering safer environments and empowering those affected through rehabilitation and support, we can reduce the risk of SCI and enhance quality of life.

Let’s celebrate today by spreading awareness through social media, organizing community education programs, and empowerment tools for those affected, we can significantly lower risks and help maintain independence and well-being for everyone.

Let's celebrate today by spreading awareness: Share resources, advocate for better safety standards, and support research into prevention and rehabilitation. Together, we can prevent falls and protect lives💪🙏

Today, September 5th is Spinal Cord Day as chosen by the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) each year focusing on a theme that resonates with those living with Spinal Cord Injuries. This year's theme goes thus.... "End Violence - Protect Spinal Cord".... Telling us the urgent need to shun violence and protect our spinal cord! We, MOSUNMOLA CARE FOUNDATION, sending love and positive vibes to every person living with SCI in Nigeria and all over the world... We say a Happy SCI Day! May God continue to make the journey easy for us🙏 Don't you lose hope, fellow Warrior💪 All will be well, by God's Mercy!💚💚💚💚

As someone living with Spinal Cord injury for more than two decades now, I can tell you for free, with experience, that SCI is a condition that no one would ever want to wish on his/her worst enemy if one has any! Having spinal cord injuries is a disaster on its own, having it in Nigeria is a Bombshell! I know what I'm talking about. So, please TAKE CARE OF YOUR SPINAL CORD!!!!
You don't want to live the rest of your life in pain and uncertainty! Go visit the hospital, Neuro dept. and see for yourself.

Since September is the SCI Awareness month, Let's not only raise awareness about spinal cord injuries but to also fight against Stigmatization, Neglect, Ableism! Let people in authority and you as an individual create a world where everyone is valued and included!

Spinal Cord Injured case is beyond mobility, majority of us suffer in silence. Even mothers abandoned their children, who's SCI victim. That's to tell you that SCI is a formidable challenge that extend beyond physical!

E-N-O-U-G-H! We matter!

"...My name is Margret Temitope. I sustained my injury in July 2022, on my way going to church. This led to be becoming paralyzed from my waist down. I also sustained a fracture from my right side. My two ribs broke, and I had internal bleeding.

I was admitted to Government hospital where I had my implant surgery done 4 weeks after my accident. The surgery was done to stabilize my spine and make me sit up fast, which I couldn't do. I can hardly lay on my back or sit up. Ive been in this pains for so long, hoping it will stop. The doctors recommended physiotherapy for me which I was doing but the pain in my spine couldn't let me do much. I always feel sharp pain in my spine.
In September, 2023, the surgery sight reopened and pus has been coming out from it. I went for check up and I was placed on a strong antibiotics. But presently, it's not stopping. The pain is increasing, and it's unbearable for me. The doctor said I must remove it. The infection has made my spine bone broke into pieces. And the pieces have started to drop out of my body. The doctor said I must remove it as soon as possible cause it's seriously infected and must not spread all over my body. I live in pain, I can't sleep, eat or do anything again. My surgery and other charges, x-ray, scan, test, blood, medication, physiotherapy and charges for bed along side total estimate given to me is 3 million naira.

I'm seeking for help🙏🙏😭😭🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️ from mocaf foundation, Nigerians, & people all over the world to please, save my life🙏...."
