IMAM DAUD TIJANI IGI-OGUN APPOINTED GRAND KHADEEMUL-MUSLIMEEN OF OYO STATE.
IBADAN, Oyo State.

Imam (Amb.) Daud Oladele Tijani Igi-Ogun has been appointed Khadeemul-Muslimeen of Oyo State by His Eminence, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere, the Grand Chief Imam of Ibadan Land, under the Council of Imams and Alfas of Ibadan-Land and the Oyo State League of Imams and Alfas.

The appointment was described by Imam Tijani Igi-Ogun as a profound honour and a significant responsibility. In his acceptance statement, he expressed gratitude to the Grand Chief Imam for finding him worthy of the position and for recognising his contributions to the development and welfare of Islam and Muslims in Oyo State.

He described the new position as an Amanah (trust) rather than merely a title, pledging to approach the responsibility with sincerity, wisdom, justice and dedication.

The newly appointed Khadeemul-Muslimeen also expressed special appreciation to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Owoade Elewu Etu I, the Alaafin of Oyo, for his warm reception, goodwill and prayers following the announcement of the appointment.

According to Imam Tijani Igi-Ogun, the Alaafin expressed happiness that the development had taken place during his reign and indicated that he would personally lead dignitaries to the official inauguration of the title scheduled for 7 November 2026.

The monarch also reportedly commended the Grand Chief Imam of Ibadan Land for recognising an illustrious son of Oyo and honouring him with the newly established title.

Imam Tijani Igi-Ogun further acknowledged the role of the immediate past Imam of Oyo Land, who, according to him, had earlier identified him as the first Khadeemul-Muslimeen of Oyo Land, a responsibility that has now expanded to the state level.

He also appreciated prominent Islamic scholars who witnessed the pronouncement, including Sheikh Atere, Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board; Sheikh Dr. Toliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara, Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Land; and Sheikh Esa Oke.

The appointee called on Muslims, scholars, Imams, leaders and well-wishers across Oyo State to support him with prayers, counsel and constructive criticism as he begins his new responsibility.

He pledged to promote Islamic values, Muslim welfare, youth education and empowerment, stronger Islamic institutions, peaceful coexistence and unity among Muslims across the state.

Imam Tijani Igi-Ogun concluded by praying for divine wisdom, sincerity and guidance to discharge the responsibility faithfully, describing the appointment as an Amanah that should become a source of reward and service to Islam and humanity.

The official inauguration of the title is scheduled for 7 November 2026.
