Arham's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research - AFSTR has achieved a significant institutional milestone following the official approval of the National Board for Technical Education - NBTE to operate as a Skill Training Center (STC) under Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative.

This development positions Arhams Foundation as an active contributor to Nigeria’s expanding skills development ecosystem, strengthening the link between technical education, industry requirements, and employability outcomes.
Under the approved framework, trainee assessments will be conducted by the designated Sectoral Awarding Body, while certification will be issued by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), based on verified competency standards.

Beyond institutional recognition, this milestone reflects Nigeria’s broader commitment to strengthening TVET systems, improving youth employability, and addressing critical skills gaps across key sectors of the economy.

For the AFSTR, this approval represents a strategic opportunity to further empower young people with practical, globally relevant skills that foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic resilience.

🎓 𝗦𝗘𝗣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 – 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁

We were honored to host the Provost of Jigawa State College of Education Gumel, at the closing of the Students Enterprise Program (SEP) 2026/2027 Academic Session.

In his remarks, the Provost commended our students for their creativity, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit, from developing innovative ideas to running functional school-based enterprises. He highlighted how SEP has equipped students with practical skills in leadership, teamwork, financial management, and problem-solving.

The Provost also expressed gratitude to mentors, teachers, and philanthropic partners whose support was instrumental in delivering this transformative program. He encouraged students to carry forward the lessons learned and continue to innovate, lead, and make a positive impact in their communities.

We proudly celebrate the recipient of the Best Business Idea Award GGDSS, Gumel at the Students Enterprise Program (SEP) 2026/2027 Closing Ceremony.

With a prize of ₦170,000 in seed funding, this award recognizes exceptional creativity, originality, and strong problem-solving in developing an innovative enterprise concept with real market potential.

This team demonstrated that powerful ideas, when properly structured and executed, can translate into viable businesses.

The Best Team Award, accompanied by ₦120,000 in seed funding, was presented to the Government Day Science Secondary School team that exemplified outstanding collaboration, coordination, and shared leadership.

Their enterprise success reflected strong teamwork, accountability, and collective responsibility, proving that sustainable businesses are built on effective collaboration.

By allocating time, supervising student teams, and integrating enterprise activities within the school environment, you strengthened the practical learning experience for your students.

The Arham's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research - AFSTR proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Alh. Farouk Gumel on his appointment by H.E. President Duma Gideon Boko as Chairman, Board of Directors of the Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited.

This is more than an appointment, it is a 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. Alh. Gumel’s journey through institutions such as the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, and PwC reflects a life dedicated to excellence, service, and leadership with integrity.

At AFSTR, we believe in nurturing minds that dare to dream and build. His story is a beacon of possibility for our students, scholars, and the next generation of leaders, especially young people and women who are breaking boundaries and redefining what is possible for Africa.

His new role at the helm of one of Africa’s most strategic sovereign wealth funds holds great promise: driving sustainable investment, shared prosperity, and long-term growth for Botswana and the continent at large.
