Bayan da Funtua Patriotic Foundation tayi kokarin dawo da transformer Sabuwar Abuja gida, wadda aka kai gyara REB Katsina. Hukumar KEDCO tazo domin hadawa, a inda s**a ce manta bai kai yanda ya kamata ba, ana bukatar karin mai na Naira dubu dari uku (N300,000) kafin tayi aiki.

Ganin haka ya sa FPF ta nemi agajin dan majalisar jiha, Hon Abubakar Total akan wannan kudi. Inda ya kara N100,000 na zirga zirgar kungiya (Logistics) ya turo mana Naira dubu dari hudu (N400,000) domin wannan aikin.

A ranar da muka je mika kudin muka taradda har community sun hada kudi sun bada a kawo masu man. Amma s**a nuna suna bukatar karin cable da za'a fadada wutar zuwa sauran bangarorin unguwa inda bata isa ba.

Hon Total ya aminta da hakan, muka siyo 50mm aluminium conduit cable na N300,000 muka baiwa Sabuwar Abuja community.

Yanzu haka wuta ta gyaru, mutane suna ta ja zuwa gidajensu cikin farin ciki, a karon farko cikin sama da shekaru biyar.

A madadin mutanen sabuwar Abuja, muna mika sakon godiya ga Hon Total bisa wannan kokari, Allah ya saka mashi da alheri, ameen.

ADVOCACY VISIT TO FUNTUA LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN

The Funtua Patriotic Foundation (FPF) paid an advocacy visit to the Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulmutallab Jibril Goya.

The delegation was led by the Director General, Alhaji Aminu Lawal Kk (Chigari), accompanied by the Director Admin and Finance, Aminu Bala Garba, Director of Operations, Nasiru Salisu and the Assistant Director Media, Communications and Strategy, Abubakar Rabiu.

The purpose of the visit was to engage the Chairman on some issues of concern regarding the development and overall progress of Funtua Local Government Area.

During the meeting, the Foundation presented its views, concerns and constructive recommendations on infrastructure development, human capital advancement and responsible use of Social Media for governance and civic engagement.

The Foundation further offered to develop a comprehensive Strategic Plan and Roadmap for the overall growth and development of Funtua Local Government Area. The proposed roadmap is aimed at providing a clear, visionary and structured direction for the administration, while strengthening people-centered initiatives that benefit the wider population rather than a privileged few.

The meeting was cordial and productive as the Chairman warmly welcomed the delegation and appreciated the Foundation’s commitment to the growth and development of Funtua. He indicated his readiness to consider the issues raised and expressed his willingness to support initiatives that will positively impact the people of Funtua. He also looks forward to receiving the proposed strategic roadmap the Foundation offers to provide.

The delegation expresses its profound appreciation to the Chairman for the respect accorded to them and reiterates the foundation's commitment to continued collaboration in the collective interest of the people and progress of Funtua Local Government Area.

Funtua Patriotic Foundation (FPF) warmly welcomes His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, to Funtua, the Economic Hub of Katsina State.

We wish Your Excellency a pleasant and successful stay in Funtua as you embark on your statewide tour to inspect and commission projects, as well as engage directly with the people.

Your innovative approach to governance is highly commendable. The introduction of the Community Development Program (CDP), the conduct of Town Hall Meetings across all 361 wards to gather citizens’ input for budget planning and your ongoing tour of all 34 Local Government Areas are unprecedented in the history of our state. We sincerely appreciate these people-centered initiatives.

We also hope that in every local government area visited, Your Excellency will continue to hold one-on-one engagements with community members (not just party stakeholders) to understand their needs and expectations. Such interactions will further strengthen public trust and help prevent misplacement of priorities in projects plan and implementation.

Secondly, we respectfully urge His Excellency to grant approval to the resolution passed by the Katsina State House of Assembly on the motion presented by Hon. Abubakar Total, on the need to relocate GTC Funtua, currently displaced to GTC Mashi to a permanent site within Government College Funtua. This relocation is essential for the seamless continuation of technical education, especially given its strategic relevance in today’s rapidly advancing technological era.

Your Excellency may recall that the original site of GTC Funtua was ceded to the newly established Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua as its permanent location, thereby leaving GTC Funtua without a stable and functional base.

Lastly, the Foundation urges His Excellency to look into the matter of FUNTUA SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE (SEZ), It is a landmark project launched by the late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018, with an initial allocation of N250 billion for its take-off. Only three locations across Nigeria were selected to benefit from this strategic national initiative: Funtua in Katsina State, Lekki in Lagos State and Aba in Abia State.

The project was conceived to deliver the following:

1. Establishment of a 5-megawatt power plant in Funtua to supply reliable electricity to the zone.

2. Creation of over 70,000 job opportunities for residents of Funtua and the wider region.

3. Construction of durable roads and key supporting infrastructure within Funtua.

4. Revitalization of cotton farming and enhancement of its value chain, enabling processing and export from Funtua to international markets.

5. Other initiatives aimed at strengthening the economic competitiveness of the zone.

Since the project’s launch, our findings indicate that the Masari administration reportedly allocated a site for the SEZ. However, there has been no clear public disclosure of its exact location or status. Meanwhile, significant sums of money continue to appear in annual budgets under various constituency project allocations for Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency and the Katsina South Senatorial District (Funtua Zone), all tied to the Economic Zone project.

We therefore appeal to Your Excellency to help uncover the true status of the project so it can be revived for the benefit of our people and the overall development of Katsina State.

PRESS RELEASE

Concerns and Recommendations on the Operations of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua, Katsina State.

The Funtua Patriotic Foundation (FPF) wishes to express deep concerns over several emerging issues surrounding the operations of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua (FUMHSF). As a host community committed to the development and progress of this institution, it is our responsibility to highlight these issues and recommend constructive solutions for the benefit of all.

Issues:
1. Lack of Representation in the Principal Offices: We observe with great dismay that none of the principal officers (Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Librarian, and now the Chief Medical Director) is drawn from Funtua host community. The host community can boast of many qualified and capable people who can serve the purpose.

2. Staff Recruitment: There were allegations that staff recruitment has been conducted in silence. Our findings further revealed that not a son or daughter of Funtua secured any employment in the process.

3. Lack of Transparency in Admission Process: Although a few candidates have reportedly been offered admission, there were no clear information or published data on the number of admitted students or the criteria used. It was gathered that the applicants did not participate in any Post-UTME screening exercise.

4. Unclear Admission Quota for Host Community: The community has received no information regarding the admission quota allocated to Funtua, nor whether the quota (if any) has been filled.

5. Poor means of dissemination of information: Prior to last month, there was no reliable source of official information about the activities of the university. The website was created only a month ago (which is due to pressures from multiple angles) to mainly facilitate Post-UTME registration. Nevertheless, updates or details about the school’s activities, policies or progress have not been provided.

Recommendations:
1. Ensure Fair Representation in Key Positions and Recruitment: Funtua elders should take proactive measures to ensure that the host community deserves a considerable level of representation in the university, particularly in the appointment of principal officers and other staff recruitment, as it will help prevent a repeat situation of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma where nearly all categories of staff were smuggled in from the home state of the pioneer Vice Chancellor, leaving Dutsin-Ma and the entire Katsina community with minimal representation.

2. Define a clear admission policy: The university should clearly state its admission requirements and procedures to ensure that qualified applicants are given adequate considerations in the admission processes.

3. Allocate Adequate Admission Slots to the Host Community: In line with the long-standing tradition of Nigerian higher institutions, a reasonable and clearly defined number of admission slots should be reserved for the Funtua host community. The community should also be informed about whether the allocated quota has been fully utilized.

4. Establish a Reliable Communication Channel: The university should create and maintain consistent and reliable communication channels, these include among others, updated website, official social media handles or public relations/student affairs to keep the community and the general public informed about the activities in the university.

5. Uphold Transparency in All University Operations: As a federal owned institution, all processes related to employment, admissions and academic activities must be conducted transparently and in line with established ethical standards. This will reinforce credibility and public confidence.

6. Provide Clear Guidelines for Business and Shop Allocation: The university should publish the procedures for allocation of business spaces and shops within the campus. This will create an enabling environment for business activities to thrive and ensure that members of the Funtua community are fairly considered.
