Earlier on, we had the privilege of collaborating with MEDIA to deliver a Digital Literacy Project at Oloye Private School, Lugbe–Abuja. It was an inspiring and impactful experience.

Over 15 students were equipped with foundational digital skills and introduced to the limitless opportunities in tech, empowering them to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

At Mithrive, we believe that early exposure creates early advantage. Together, we’re helping young minds unlock their potential and prepare for the future of work.

Happy International Youth Day!

At Mithrive Initiative for Development, we believe that youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the change-makers of today.

Across Nigerian communities, we’ve seen firsthand how young people drive innovation, challenge the status quo, and create sustainable solutions that break the cycle of poverty and social isolation.

Ever heard of Psychological First Aid (PFA)?

It’s just like the first aid you know—but instead of tending to wounds on the body, it heals the wounds you can’t see.

In crisis-struck regions like Borno State, trauma isn't always visible but it lives in the hearts of children, especially adolescent girls, who’ve endured the unthinkable.

That’s why Mithrive Initiative for Development is stepping in, bringing community-based psychosocial support to 30 adolescent girls in Jere LGA.

Through Psychological First Aid, we’ll support the emotional recovery of young girls, helping them rebuild confidence, process pain, and reclaim their dreams—because education without emotional healing is incomplete.

This is more than a project.
It’s a promise to restore dignity, hope, and belonging.

Addressing Climate Change as a Security Threat in the Sahel – Mithrive Participates in High-Level Dialogue

On Wednesday, 18th June 2025, Mithrive Initiative for Development had the distinct honor of participating in the High-Level Dialogue on “Climate Change as Security Threats: Climate Change, Armed Conflicts, and Internal Displacements in the Sahel Region” organized by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) in Abuja, as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations.

This important event brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, academia, and international organizations to examine the complex and escalating challenges at the intersection of climate change, conflict, and displacement, particularly in the Sahel region.

As an organization committed to building resilient communities and empowering vulnerable populations, Mithrive contributed to conversations around:
✅ The urgent need for integrated, community-driven climate and peace strategies
✅ Strengthening youth-led responses to displacement and livelihood loss
✅ Bridging gaps between policy and grassroots realities in conflict-affected areas

We commend the IPCR and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Nigeria for convening this timely and strategic engagement. As the climate crisis deepens, so must our collective resolve to foster peace, resilience, and justice—especially for the most affected communities.

We’re thrilled to announce that Mithrive Initiative for Development, in collaboration with SHADE (Strategic Humanitarian Aid & Development), has been awarded a grant by the The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT)!

This grant supports our joint project focused on educational recovery and psychosocial support for adolescent girls affected by the protracted crisis in Jere LGA, Borno State.

Together, we’re building safe spaces, restoring hope, and empowering the next generation of girls through healing, learning, and life skills development.

Mithrive Initiative for Development was honored to participate in the Stakeholders’ Conference organized by Young Professionals in Policy and Development (YouPaD) in commemoration of World Earth Day.

With the powerful theme, “Our Power, Our Planet: From Policy to Action,” the event brought together key voices and organizations driving climate action and sustainability across Nigeria.

The conference was held in partnership with Climate Justice, Creative Culture and Communities for Peace (CCC for Peace) and in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, TrashMongers, Ecocykle, Basic Rights Watch, the Initiative for Human Rights and Gender Awareness, the Coalition for Socioecological Transformation (CoSET), and the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution.

In his keynote, Mohammed Abdullahi, former Minister of Environment, emphasized that poverty remains a significant barrier to climate action in Nigeria. He highlighted that achieving our national climate goals requires deliberate efforts to break the cycle of poverty through targeted interventions.

We are proud to lend our voice and support to initiatives that connect policy to real impact, and remain committed to advancing environmental justice and sustainable development in underserved communities.

Why This Project Matters!

In an era where misinformation spreads faster than facts, critical thinking is a superpower! During our sessions at Oloye Secondary School Lugbe, we helped young minds distinguish between fake news, half-truths, and credible information.

Seeing these students actively question sources and analyze content was inspiring! This is why we do what we do, because a well-informed generation is an empowered generation.

Kicking Off a Movement for Truth!

What a week it has been! We successfully executed a transformative grant project aimed at improving the integrity and quality of information among young people. From the classrooms of GSS Gwarimpa to Oloye Secondary School, Lugbe, we engaged, educated, and empowered youths (ages 13-25) to think critically and verify the information they consume and share.

Exciting Highlights from the National Organization Development Summit - Day 1

Our Executive Director proudly represented us at the 3rd annual Organization Development Summit in Abuja, hosted by Palladium. This summit is a pivotal part of the SCALE initiative, launched in 2020 to empower Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) for sustained success.

With only 33% of businesses making it to the next generation and a mere 13% scaling to the third, the need for robust capacity building is clear.

Key discussions were around; How are Nigerian CSOs committed to sustainable changes in the face of a dwindling donor grants?, Unpacking the challenges and opportunities for Nigerian CSOs in Navigating the Donor Landscape.

As a youth-led organization dedicated to alleviating poverty in Nigeria through youth entrepreneurship and community development, we recognize the importance of gaining valuable insights and expanding our network to drive our vision forward.
