From Udi in Enugu State, he rose to fame through his unique blend of comedy, storytelling, and acting excellence.

For over three decades, he has entertained millions through his unforgettable roles, using humor, language, and storytelling to project Igbo identity to audiences across Africa and beyond.

His outstanding contributions to the film industry earned him the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Stronger than Pain. He is also widely recognized for classic productions such as Osuofia in London, Ukwa, and numerous other films that helped shape modern Nollywood.

Beyond the awards and fame, Nkem Owoh’s greatest achievement is his ability to preserve and promote Igbo culture through entertainment, proving that local stories can achieve global relevance.

A delegation led by the CEO of GUO Transport paid a visit to Chief Chinedu Benson Madubuko, father of businessman and socialite Man Like Chico, to appeal to him to accept a traditional leadership position.

It took about six months of appeals and consultations before he finally accepted the responsibility, even as others were reportedly making moves to take up the position if he declined.

This is exactly how leadership was selected in many Igbo communities in the past, not through campaigns or self-promotion, but through consultation, consensus, and appeals by elders and respected stakeholders who believed an individual was worthy of service.
