Your Policy Input is Needed!

Each year, OFA asks certified organic farmers and organic farm organizations to share their top policy priorities and policy positions to inform positions for the year ahead and before OFA members vote and finalize OFAโ€™s policy positions.

If youโ€™re an organic farmer or organization member, participate now! The survey will take about 15 minutes.

Strength comes from the roots, and only with strong roots can we grow the organic food and farming movement. We must remain strong in order to reach new policymakers and advocate for the organic policies that are crucial to our families, environment, and health. ๐Ÿ’ช

This is especially important as we find the strength to advocate for a fair and representative Farm Bill again next year.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you haven't, would you consider making a donation to support our organic advocacy work in 2025?

In 2024, supporters and members came together to extend our Farm Bill advocacy into a second year and powered policy and advocacy work like:

๐Ÿ„ Introducing and generating support for the O-DAIRY bill (S.3097 / H.R. 6937), a bill designed by organic dairy farmers in our national workgroup to improve data collection for organic dairy, require USDA to design a functional safety-net program for organic dairy farmers, and provide investments in regional organic dairy infrastructure.

๐ŸšขDrafting legislation to stop organic import fraud so that U.S. organic grain farmers operate in a fair and equitable marketplace and consumer trust in the organic label is protected.

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŒพ Helping secure $58 million for organic dairy farmers through the Organic Dairy Marketing Assistance Program (ODMAP). Organic dairy farmers are suffering after declining milk prices, aging farm infrastructure, skyrocketing energy and feed costs, and this federal funding is incredibly important to saving family organic dairy farms.

๐ŸŽ“Helping secure $15 Million to promote organic dairy products in schools and youth programs, which both builds and diversifies markets for organic dairy farmers as well as supports increased children nutrition and access to organic food.

๐Ÿฝ Advising on and endorsing the Safe Schools Meal Act to make sure children in public schools have increased access to organic food from organic farmers that will reduce the presence of toxic heavy metal, pesticides, artificial food dyes, and chemical contaminants in their lunches.

๐ŸŒพ Supporting and advocating for farmers in the Great Plains and Midwest who received clawback letters asking them to return a total of more than $5.5 million of their hard-earned money in order to bail out bankrupt grain buyers.

Please donate to support OFA's organic policy and advocacy work next year.
