VEN. DR J.C. AGBO'S SON'S WEDDING TURNS INTO IFEPED CELEBRATION.
By Barr. Gab Ogbe, Acting Secretary General, IFEPED.
Ven.Dr. J.C. Agbo, the Archdeacon of St. Luke's Anglican Church, Ogui Enugu has been one of the outspoken sponsors of IFEPED. He has been one of the backbones of Mr Victor Clifford Ugwu, the President of IFEPED in his efforts to galvanize government agencies to contribute immensely to the needs of persons with disability and indigents generally.
In order to honour the Venerable for his laudable contributions to IFEPED, Mr Ugwu Victor and a few number of persons with disability in IFEPED attended the wedding reception of his son, Bishop Jonathan Agbo (Jnr) on 7th June, 2025 at Chike Nwizu Hall, Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd Independence Layout Enugu. They had come with their widow's mite, not knowing what fate had in store for them.
Immediately Ven. Dr. J.C. Agbo sited Mr Ugwu and his colleagues at the reception, he not only excitedly announced their presence to other of his guests but also in support of his wife made a donation of Fifty Thousand naira ( #50,000) to the organization. He did not stop at this, but implored his guests to make their own donations on the spot.
It is interesting to note that Victor and IFEPED, instead of being givers became receivers of donations worth Five Hundred Thousand naira ( #500,000) from Ven. J.C.and Mrs Florence Agbo, Mr Dan and Pastor Mrs Cordelia Egbo with #300,000, Mrs Ijeoma Chukwura- Okolie with #50,000 as well as Barr. Ngozi and Hon. Mrs Nkechi Chukwura with #100,000.
Notwithstanding that the occasion was his son's, Ven. Agbo turned it around to celebrate the persons with disability in their midst. Yet, it did not deprive his son of the wedding gifts from friends, well-wishers and his church members, including the IFEPED family.
This agrees with Scriptures that says in Psalm 41:1 to 3(NLT) "Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble. The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health."
May the Lord not only continue to bless Venerable Jonathan C. Agbo and his family but also the marriage of his son, Bishop in Jesus Name.
In his reaction to this kind gesture from Ven. Dr Agbo's family and his colleagues, Mr Ugwu described it as pleasant surprise, and welcome development. He thanked the family and other donors for their generous donations. He therefore used the occasion to promise to make good use of the money especially for the ex*****on of the organization's projects/programmes.
