It’s not every candle added to a cake that marks the passage of time. Some candles illuminate lives. That is why some people count their age, while others count theirs by the lives they have touched.

Today, we honor a man who has placed many on the comfortable cushion of life; a man who gives without noise & uplifts without seeking applause.

Man is as simple as the English Alphabet,
accessible, affable, calculative and articulate. Thousands of pages would not be enough to capture his rare personality traits.

What flies in the 21st century?
Don't tell me, TIME. It's old belief that time flies. It doesn't anymore. I can drag my time, hack and hang it, then use & tailor it to my own advantage.

What flies now is opportunities. In your calm state of mind, it swings back & forth.
In your unreserved state of mind, it moves at the speed of pendulum bob.

I know you undergo a lot which I don't undergo.
I know I undergo a lot you don't have an idea about.
I know life is full of ups and downs and so challenging.
I know you can be depressed at times with life pressures.
I know you're tired of the status quo.
I know your mindset is based on building your Rome in a day.
I know that you need God in all of your days.
I know that you should trust God no matter what.
I know it's not easy at all to do so.
I know there is no other way to go about it.
I know a whole lot that will want to talk about later.
Just smile. Laugh.
Life is too short.
People do cry inside limousine.
Hungry people do laugh.

No matter how tall you are in life, at some point in time, you will grow short.
A 6ft tall man must bend to enter a door space of 4ft, whether he likes it or not. A 4ft short man must stretch to pluck a mango whose tree is 6ft; it is non-negotiable.

You don’t understand me clearly?

Why did the tall man bend? So he will not hurt himself. Why did the short man stretch or carry a 2ft stool? So he could pluck with ease.

But nowadays, people who are tall want to remain tall. People who are short want to remain so.

People who have knowledge don’t want to bend to the perspective of others.
People who don’t have knowledge are afraid to search for it.

We, the youth of nowadays, don’t want to bend to anything, especially when we feel we have outgrown our elders. We make the mistake of not learning from the experience of age, when we surely know that experience can never be bought.

I am not taking the stance of following the lead of an older persons sheepishly, but there should always be a surge between the old way of thinking and the new way of perceiving things.

A thoughtful mind will understand this.

We often think contentment means not wanting anything new or wanting MORE, but that’s not true.

There is a delicate balance between being grateful for where you are and still reaching for more, without pressure.

Gratitude and ambition can live in the same heart.

So this week.
Celebrate your progress,
but don’t stop dreaming.

You can be content and still becoming.
