ZAPE was founded in 2020 by some members of the 2004 economics graduating class of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Motivated by the need for togetherness, individual and collective growth and the development of our society, we have agreed to be collectively involved in the growth process for the promotion of good governance and welfare of the society at large. Zik Association Of Progressive Economists (ZAPE) is a premier network of economists from all walks of life who are committed to creating a positive and lasting impact in their immediate society and the world at large.

Economic and Social Inclusion

ZAPE was formed out of the desire to support and promote Economic and Social Inclusion for the masses. The group founding members are graduates of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Univerity Awka, Economics *Class of 2004. Having seen ourselves in different industries and with various higher academic qualifications, and spread across the globe, we felt there is a need to bring back our knowledge home and promote ideas and policies that will touch the lives of the people starting from Nigeria and across the globe. Our activities will come in form of academic and professional publications, awareness, economic stimulus packages, and influencing government policies through all media available.

ZAPE is the network of choice providing knowledge, programs, and opportunities that enable individuals, businesses, and leaders to attain excellence and achieve sustainable growth in the society.

MISSION

ZAPE’s mission is to promote collective growth and economic development through the use, understanding and application of economics.

OBJECTIVES

The following are the aims and objectives of Zik Association of Progressive Economists:

i. To use Progressive Economic Group’s platforms to assist its members maximize their full potentials while achieving professional competence and excellence in their chosen fields of endeavour.

ii. To promote dialogue, interaction, and cooperation among members.

iii. To identify persons and areas that suffer the most economic and social exclusions.

iv. To pull resources together for the purpose of realizing social and economic inclusion (through the provision of education, health care services, economic empowerment) for the most economically and socially excluded and less privileged members of our society.

v. To create a suitable forum for the exchange of ideas and to organize, sponsor and aid seminars, workshops, study circles, working groups, and conferences for promoting cutting edge information and utilization of such information for the economic and social advancement of our society.

vi. To contribute meaningfully in the formulation of economic and social policies through well-researched opinion pieces from Zik Association of Progressive Economists and its affiliate/associate members.
