I don’t think there should be any real debate about today’s starting XI against Bournemouth, especially since there are no injury concerns from the squad that was available for the Aston Villa match last week.

For me, the lineup should stay the same against Bournemouth... when a team wins, there’s no reason to start making changes.

⚫️🔴 Manchester United are reportedly considering a significant tactical pivot for the upcoming season that involves reimagining Patrick Dorgu’s role within the squad. Rather than keeping him in his traditional defensive slot, the club is exploring the possibility of deploying him as a dedicated left-winger. This shift is largely necessitated by the persistent fitness concerns surrounding Luke Shaw, whose availability for a grueling European campaign remains a question mark, prompting the recruitment team to prioritize a new, specialist left-back.

While shifting a defender up the pitch might seem like a gamble, the data and eye test suggest a move rooted in logic rather than desperation. Though Dorgu hasn’t been a permanent fixture in the final third this season, his impact in advanced roles has been undeniably high-stakes. He stepped up with commanding performances in marquee victories over Manchester City and Arsenal, proving he has the temperament for the big stage, while maintaining a high floor of consistency against mid-table opposition like Burnley.

📍Why I feel the Transition would Work..

The case for Dorgu as a winger is built on a blend of raw physical output and efficient production, With 3 goals and 3 assists across approximately 1,300 league minutes, his output per 90 minutes is highly competitive for a young player still learning his positioning..He possesses the classic "modern winger" toolkit explosive pace to burn markers and the stamina to sustain a high-intensity press for 90 minutes.

Because of his defensive upbringing, Dorgu offers a level of tracking back and structural discipline that traditional wingers often lack. This would provide invaluable cover for whoever United signs to fill the left-back spot, creating a formidable and balanced flank.

At just 21 years old, Dorgu is at a developmental crossroads. While he might not possess the "silky" aesthetic of a flair-heavy dribbler, his directness and that potent left foot offer a different kind of threat. From a squad management perspective, this move is a masterstroke of efficiency. By transitioning Dorgu forward, the club avoids the exorbitant costs of the "winger tax" in the transfer market, allowing them to reinvest those funds into a world-class defensive signing.

Instead of overcrowding the roster with another expensive, "flashy" wing-back who might stall the progress of existing talent, United seems intent on building around Dorgu’s specific strengths, pace, energy, and defensive intelligence while surrounding him with the creative playmakers needed to unlock his full ceiling.

🚨🎙️ | Benjamin Sesko describes his goal against Everton:

“When I saw the ball getting played over to Mbeumo.. I knew that I was going to get in FRONT of the defender [Tarkowski].

"This was because I BELIEVED so much that I was going to get this ball.

"Once I got myself into the position, I just tried to stay CALM and score.”

I'm sorry to say this, but Arsenal and Arteta have destroyed this beautiful game of football with their new set piece tactics.

Letting teams wrestle on top of the goalkeeper is so annoying to watch. You could see it in our game against Everton today at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It has become a standard tactic now where players are essentially pinning the keeper to the spot, making it impossible for them to actually do their job.

Maybe the Premier League needs a rule where offensive players can't even enter the six yard box until after the kick is taken.

It would bring back the actual skill of defending and goalkeeping instead of this chaotic wrestling match we see every week.

If the league doesn't change its rules soon, we are going to keep seeing these messy goals that take away from the quality of the play.

We need to get back to real football, not this set piece exploitation. 🥹🙏
