The Potter’s Wheel Foundation – Student Internship Program

The Potter’s Wheel Foundation offers a practical internship program designed to give students real-world business experience before they graduate and receive certification.

How it works

1. Team-based learning: Students are organized into five teams of ten. Each team receives startup materials to launch their own small-scale production.
2. End-to-end experience: From making the product to finding customers and completing sales, every student takes part in production, marketing, and selling.
3. Business records: Teams keep a record book for each batch, documenting production details, sales, and costs.
4. Earn while you learn: Students share in the profits made during the program and also build a customer base they can continue serving after certification.

The outcome
The program helps students gain confidence and skills to start and run their own businesses. Many have already started individual production and are generating income. The internship is also now open to past students across the country.

*Skills Beyond Sight: How One Foundation Is Tackling Unemployment in Ebonyi*

*Abakaliki, Ebonyi State* – In a bold step toward inclusive empowerment, The Potter’s Wheel Foundation, in partnership with the National Association of the Blind, Ebonyi State Chapter, successfully trained 70 visually impaired persons in vocational and entrepreneurship skills.

The two-day intensive program held on 24th and 25th April 2026 at All Saints Anglican Church, Abakaliki, equipped beneficiaries with hands-on skills to produce fast-moving, income-generating products.

*- Skills taught include:* Perfume, body gel, hair cream, peanuts, doughnuts, custard powder, liquid soap, organic and inorganic soap, carrot oil, antiseptics, disinfectants, and more.

*Immediate Impact*
The results were instant. Beneficiary Edu Blessed Idam wasted no time putting his training to use. After the session, he headed straight to the International Market in Abakaliki, purchased raw materials for perfume production, and rolled out his first batch that same evening. His products are already selling. He has since added liquid antiseptics to his lineup, both now in the local market.

*Free, Transformative, and Scalable*
The training was delivered completely free of charge. For The Potter’s Wheel Foundation, this is more than charity. It is a catalyst for transformation, job creation, and dignity for the less privileged and vulnerable.

*Call for Partnership and Sponsorship*
We are actively seeking partners and sponsors to scale this impact.
*- Partnerships:* We welcome collaboration with organizations, communities, schools, and stakeholders to extend vocational training to youth and women across Nigeria.
*- Sponsorship:* We need support to equip our trainees with startup materials and tools so they can practice and sustain what they have learned.

With a workforce spanning all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, our reach is national.

Let us join hands to tackle unemployment.
Let us promote and produce Made-in-Nigeria products.

International Women’s Day: Celebrating the Strength, Impact, and Potential of Women
Every year on March 8, the world observes International Women’s Day, a moment dedicated to recognizing the achievements, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women across every sphere of life. It is a day that celebrates the progress women have made while also reminding the global community of the work that still lies ahead in achieving genuine gender equality.
Women continue to play transformative roles in shaping families, communities, and nations. Their influence is felt in education, healthcare, leadership, entrepreneurship, science, and community development. Through courage, innovation, and determination, women consistently challenge barriers, inspire change, and contribute meaningfully to social and economic progress.
Yet, International Women’s Day is more than a celebration—it is a call to reflection and action. While significant strides have been made in advancing women's rights and opportunities, many women around the world still face structural barriers that limit their full participation and potential. Addressing these challenges requires sustained commitment from individuals, institutions, and governments alike.
As the world commemorates International Women’s Day 2025, organizations and communities are deepening conversations around empowerment, leadership, inclusion, and equal opportunity. One such organization, The Potter’s Wheel Foundation, is marking the occasion through initiatives that celebrate the contributions of women while encouraging greater participation of women in leadership and community development.
Through these efforts, the foundation seeks to amplify the voices of women and girls, provide platforms for engagement and learning, and promote opportunities that enable them to reach their full potential. By investing in the empowerment of women, the organization contributes to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
Ultimately, empowering women is not merely a women’s issue—it is a human development imperative. When women are empowered, families flourish, communities become more resilient, and nations experience sustainable growth.
As we celebrate this day, let us honor the women who inspire us, support initiatives that advance equality, and renew our collective commitment to building a world where every woman and girl has the freedom, opportunity, and support to dream, lead, and succeed.

Long live our women
