When we started the Dr. John Nwokeabia Centre for Enlightenment, it was not meant to achieve any political point, rather, it was born out of my understanding of the importance of sound information and enlightenment.

A nation does not decay because its enemies are strong or because of weak leadership; it decays because its people stop asking the right questions. Today, let us remember that enlightenment and sound education are not luxuries but civic duties, because when citizens rise with knowledge, leaders rise with accountability. As the NDC candidate for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, I am committed to championing this principle.

Before the first brick of any civilization is laid, a teacher lights a mind. Long before a child steps into a boardroom, a courtroom, or a hall of power, they pass through your hands. Today, I stand in absolute awe and deepest reverence of the priceless work you do across our communities.

Teaching in our land is not merely a profession; it is a sacred calling. Day after day, often in silence and self-sacrifice, you stand at the whiteboard of destiny. You do not just teach subjects, you mold character, construct hope, and breathe life into the dormant dreams of our children. You are the invisible architects of every greatness our region will ever produce.

Look around us: every doctor saving lives in our hospitals, every engineer designing our infrastructure, every leader speaking for our people was once a blank canvas in your classroom. You took their raw potential and sculpted it with patience, discipline, and intellectual rigor. Your indelible mark is etched in the soul of every triumph.

I see the quiet resilience it takes to give your best even when resources are sparse. Yet, you never retreat. Addressing Ndi Obeagu at their Ward meeting on 4th October 2026, I called for collective support and unity for all NDC candidates from Peter Obi to the last candidate on the ballot.

As your candidate for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, my commitment is to build bridges, unite our people, provide effective and responsive representation, and work towards advancing the vision of a New Nigeria.

Today, I stood with my family, relatives, friends and well-wishers to pay my final respects to my beloved cousin, Chief Okolo James Ogbonnaya, Nnanyelugo 1 of Ndoko Ancient Kingdom. It was a deeply emotional moment as the traditional drums echoed across the ancient land, while our people gathered to honour a man whose life touched many. For me, the reality of saying farewell to Onye Nkuzi was painful beyond words.

Nnanyelugo 1, my dear cousin, farewell. You have gone ahead of us on the journey every mortal must one day take. Your voice may be silent, but your memories, your name and the footprints you left behind will remain with us. May Chukwu Okike receive you in peace and grant you eternal rest. Rest well, my brother and cousin. You will never be forgotten.

FROM SHARED STRUGGLE TO SUSTAINABLE PROGRESS: DR. JOHN NWOKEABIA CALLS FOR INDEPENDENCE WITH TANGIBLE PURPOSE

As Nigeria commemorates her 66th Independence Anniversary, the NDC House of Representatives candidate for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Dr. John Nwokeabia, has urged constituents to renew their faith in the nation while embracing the vision of its founding generation, a dream rooted in freedom, dignity, and collective prosperity.

In his Independence Day message, Dr. Nwokeabia emphasized that independence must extend beyond historical remembrance, finding its true value in the daily lives of ordinary citizens through responsible governance, economic opportunity, security, and infrastructure.

“Freedom must translate into food on the table, electricity in our homes, motorable roads to our farms, opportunities for our youth, and a secure future for our children,” he stated.

Drawing from years of deep grassroots engagement across Aninri, Awgu, Oji River and more, Dr. Nwokeabia noted that true leadership is defined not by titles, but by the capacity to influence policy and deliver tangible development.

“As a public policy servant, I understand the corridors of power, but more importantly, I know those corridors must ultimately lead back to the people,” he added.

Looking ahead to 2027, Dr. Nwokeabia reaffirmed his commitment to delivering accessible, accountable, and impact-driven representation focused on youth empowerment, agricultural expansion, and infrastructure. Calling for solid constituency unity, he declared: “Igwe bu ike-our unity is our strength. When we speak with one voice, our collective potential becomes an unstoppable force for progress.”

He wished the people of Aninri, Awgu, Oji River, and Nigeria at large a peaceful and reflective celebration, calling on all citizens to work together toward a prosperous future and a new Nigeria under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Peter Obi, as well as the governance of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa in Enugu State, alongside the victory of Hon. Uche Kingsley Eneh for Enugu West and all other NDC candidates come May 29, 2027.
