📢 Sensitization on Gender-Based Violence at New Haven Market, Enugu

Today, we took a bold step toward building a safer and more informed community as we carried out a sensitization program on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at New Haven Market, Enugu.

Traders, buyers, and community members were engaged in meaningful conversations about:
🔹 What gender-based violence really means
🔹 The different forms it can take (physical, emotional, sexual, and economic)
🔹 How to recognize the signs
🔹 The importance of speaking up and seeking help

We emphasized that violence is never justified and that everyone deserves to live with dignity, respect, and safety.

Together, we can break the silence, challenge harmful norms, and support survivors. Change begins with awareness—and awareness starts with us.

Women’s rights are human rights.
Every woman and girl deserves the power to participate fully in social, economic, and political development without discrimination, violence, or exclusion.
At Youth Child Support Initiative (YCSI), we stand for a world where women’s voices are heard, their rights protected, and their potential fully realized.
This International Women’s Day, we call on leaders, communities, and institutions to invest in women, protect women, and empower women.
Because when women rise, societies rise.

Today, as the world marks International Women’s Day, Youth Child Support Initiative (YCSI) stands in solidarity with women and girls everywhere especially those whose voices have been silenced by violence, exploitation, and inequality.
Gender-Based Violence continues to threaten the safety, dignity, and rights of countless women and girls in our communities. Behind every statistic is a real story stories of courage, survival, and the urgent need for action.
At Youth Child Support Initiative (YCSI), we are deeply committed to confronting these realities. Through community awareness, survivor-centered support, psychosocial care, family reunification, and economic empowerment initiatives, we work tirelessly to ensure that survivors of violence and trafficking are not left behind.
But the fight against Gender-Based Violence cannot be won by one organization alone. It requires collective action stronger community engagement, supportive policies, and a shared commitment to protecting the rights and futures of women and girls.
On this International Women’s Day, we call on governments, community leaders, civil society organizations, and individuals to stand together and say: Enough is enough. Violence against women and girls must end.

Let us move beyond words to action. Let us build communities where women and girls are safe, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Happy International Women’s Day. 💪🤱🧑‍🍼

EMPOWERING SURVIVORS THROUGH PRACTICAL SKILLS 🌱
Youth Child Support Initiative (YCSI) is currently hosting a 3-Day Skill Acquisition Training for Survivors, focused on equipping participants with practical, income-generating skills they can immediately put to use.
The training is designed to teach participants how to produce everyday products such as puff-puff, buns, cakes, perfumes, liquid soap, and detergents, among other small-scale business skills. These are simple but valuable skills that can help survivors start small businesses, earn steady income, and rebuild their confidence and independence.
This program is taking place from 29th – 31st January 2026 at the YCSI Conference Hall, 10 Carter Street, Ogui, Enugu State, with the support of The Freedom Fund, whose partnership continues to strengthen our mission of restoring dignity and opportunity to survivors.
Beyond learning, the training provides a safe and supportive environment where participants can grow, connect, and rediscover their potential.
At YCSI, we believe that empowerment is a powerful step toward healing. By providing survivors with practical skills, we are helping them move from vulnerability to self-reliance.
✨ Ending modern-day slavery begins with empowering lives.
