Stephen Omatule Foundation Africa (SOFA) was duly represented at the just concluded Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation Conference & Award 2026, held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In attendance were Anuoluwa Ebere Bewaji (Director of Volunteers) and other members of the SOFA team. The conference brought together young and emerging leaders from across Africa to discuss leadership, innovation, and sustainable development.

SOFA’s presence reaffirmed our commitment to youth empowerment, climate action, and building a new generation of African leaders who drive practical change in their communities.

We remain dedicated to contributing to platforms that strengthen leadership capacity and advance sustainable solutions across the continent.

‎The Stephen Omatule Foundation Africa was duely represented at the Men’s Summit 2026, recently organized by YouthHub Africa at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. This year’s theme, "Reimagining Behavioural Change for Gender Justice: Men Championing Gender Equality," serves as a timely call to action for male leaders across sectors.

‎The summit successfully bridged generational and institutional gaps, bringing together civil society, youth advocates, and eminent religious and traditional leaders including Rev. Father George Ehusani, Imam Abdul Raji, and HRH Istifanus.

‎A recurring theme throughout the panels was the transition from passive solidarity to active accountability. As leaders, true allyship means leveraging our influence to challenge harmful social norms, support survivors, and improve institutional reporting channels for Gender Based Violence (GBV). To paraphrase one of the key sessions: true allyship is defined by what we do with what we know. Silence in the face of injustice is complicity.

‎Let us continue to collaborate, educate, and lead by example in our respective spaces to ensure gender justice becomes a lived reality.

Yesterday, SOFA Foundation was represented at the Climate Youth Actors Meetup organized by African Climate Fellows in collaboration with DEAN by Onize Blessing Omeiza

Representing SOFA, the various sessions brought together passionate young leaders, policymakers, and climate stakeholders to engage in meaningful conversations on youth inclusion in climate policymaking. A key highlight was the emphasis on not just involving youth, but ensuring that competent and informed young people actively contribute to policy development.

Discussions also expanded the narrative around climate action, moving beyond tree planting to recognizing that every sector is connected to climate. From real estate development to agriculture, the need for sustainable practices was strongly emphasized.

We also explored critical issues such as:
• The impact of climate on poverty and livelihoods
• Flooding and the need for increased public awareness
• Opportunities within NDCs, SNDCs, and COP engagements
• Climate and human security in regions like Lake Chad

The event reinforced a powerful message: we must move from working in silos to building collaborative solutions.

SOFA Foundation looks forward to exploring partnerships, engaging more youth voices, and contributing meaningfully to climate action and policy development.
