Things are destined to happen, and it must happen whether we want it or not, whether we are prepared or not prepared. This is a known fact but yet we seem to deny it reality. We are constantly brooding over the events of the past days that we forgot that there is nothing we can do to avert its occurrence. We have lost loved ones, partners, and member of our family. We have lost properties and other valuable substances. But what can we do to stop them from happening in the first place?

Brooding over the past and its tragedies is a form of insanity-a form of sickness that defeats our resolve to live for the present moment. It pulls us back from moving forward to our destination in life.

! Contnd.SCALES OF DETERMING A DEFECTIVE IMAN
BACKBITING AND SLANDERING: These are from the most destructive sins, yet the most widely spread amongst all humans in general and Muslims is particular such that no one is free from it except for a few. I refer to those who are fond of these sins as the“cannibals amongst men”. These sins flag a defective Iman because of its diseased effect on the heart. It includes gossiping, spreading rumor etc.Allahsays:
“behold, you received it on your tongues and said out of your mouths, things which you had no knowledge, and you thought it to be a light matter while it was the most serious in the sight of ALLAH (Quran 24:15).
FORNICATION AND ADULTERY:Today, Muslims are increasingly banishing their modesty and bringing down the honor Islam offered them, by involving themselves in these evil acts called “Modern fun”. Having a boyfriend/girlfriend is definitely going to strangle yourIman.ALLAH says;
“Do not come near to adultery, indeed it is a shameful deed and an evil way” (Quran 17:32).
The former will not only decrease your Iman, it will also strip you off any sense of morals and mark you with the emblem of disbelief, how perilous!
TELLING LIES:This is most common sin in recent times; it is now even unconstitutionally legalized even the law itself is lying. Telling lies is against the human physiology, like a disease, it has its own signs and symptoms. The act of lying produces inner conflicts between various control centers of the brain, thereby sending out contradictory signals to cause facial muscle twitching, increase eye blinking, rapid heart rate with some unconscious acts like covering the mouth, scratching the side of the neck and rubbing of the ear etc. Lying is the easiest of all sins; it eats upImanlike a canker.
Conclusively, every defective indication on theImanometersignifies the reduction inIman. When theImanof a believer seem to be falling below zero level, then theImanometeris therefore, repaired by engineering a sincere repentance, screwing in pious acts (giving alms, performingnawafils, participating in righteous acts etc.) and covering it with the strict adherence to the five pillars of Islam.
May ALLAH (SWT) guard us to the straight path and reward us all abundantly in this world and in the hereafter.
ASALAM ALEYKUM WARAMOTULLAH WABARAKATUH.

" contd.
Imanometer is a metaphysical machine, which serves as a self-assessment appliance for detecting any rise or fall in the camber of faith. It is defined“A conglomerate of virtual wheel of patience and six gears of the article of faith with calibrated scales of five pillars of Islam.”This device works on how consistent; any of the degree of measurements is practiced with sincerity, it flags a defective Iman at the slightest change (fluctuation) in conviction; it readers are never biased. A rise in faith never goes undetected, it engines never wears. This matchless gadget is on no account gloomed by a reclusive lifestyle, it does not reckon with attires, nor does it flinch at a gorgeous look at it. Its operation is highly sophisticated, measuring the slightest change in the alacrity of Iman like the speedometer and its droopiness like the application of brakes (sins, evil desires). Its only interest is what is in the heart more preferably the pure heart. The following are some of the scales of measuring one’s faith, which connotes an ideal state of Iman, they are; patience, remembrance of ALLAH, Love of the Prophet (SAW), dress code, remembrance of Death, and adherence to the pillars of Islam, seeking Islamic knowledge, truthfulness, certitude, carrying out good deeds etc. While on the contrary, these are some of the scales of determining a defective Iman: they are disbelief in the six articles of faith, listening to music, fornicating, telling lies, stealing, gambling, backbiting & slandering, drinking alcohol and other forms of sin.
SCALE OF DETERMINING A PERFECT IMAN
PATIENCE:Patience is the virtue of the righteous ones. Patience is the half of Iman that is why it is the key to happiness and contentment. Fretting about things, we cannot change! How helpless we are in face of trials but being patient and allowing situations to run their course according to Allah’s will. Patience seems unfeasible because of the whispers and whims of our satanic desires to take advantage of a minor spat just to display boxing flairs, and not as a mechanism of self-defense. Patience is seen stupid sometimes which is because to every situation that transpires,ALLAH has the knowledge of it, so the true believers give in their best, bearing it in mind that ALLAH (SWT) always has a plan; a way out. The degree of patience determines the sincerity in loving ALLAH (SWT). Many claim to love ALLAH (SWT) but when ALLAH tests them with hardship, they forget the essence of Love. No one can adhere to the love of ALLAH except those who are patient and persevering(As–Sabireen). The good or evil that comes their way, they do not seem to care. To their souls, all it drawn to is patience. ALLAH says:
“truly we found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in our service! Ever did he turn (to us)!
(Quran 38:44)
REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAH:This remembrance cleanses the heart, eschews it from all kind of evil intentions and it increases Iman. Allah says;
“remember me and I shall remember you. Be grateful unto me and deny me not” (Quran 2:152).
This clarifies that the constancy in the remembrance of ALLAH results in getting closer to ALLAH (SWT) and increasing our trust in him. Pondering over ALLAH’s signs and his obvious greatness brings nothing but satisfaction to the heart; it yearns for nothing more than thinking about ALLAH, the lord of the worlds. Recitation of the Quran and contemplation on its meanings, dhikr, azkars etc. These create a strong bond between a true believer and his lord.
DRESS CODE:Islam is a complete way of life, which addresses all aspects of being. As the popular saying goes; “you are what you wear” which means that your physical appearance is the product of your intent and conviction. Since action is a reflection of belief, therefore, a Muslimah/Muslim is not expected to wear a tight fitted cloth that reveals the body, smearing her/his whole face with gloss (make up) like a painter, with fat lips that glisters like gold. Embracing the dress style of the misled (fashion craze) (not because of Ignorance) is a clear sign of straying away from the Sunnah, even ISLAM. (Haya) modesty is a branch of faith (Iman) and a sign of respect for oneself and other. Therefore, the adoption of Islamic Dress code(e.g. Hijab, Niqqab, Jilbab, not dragging the garment/trousers below the ankle etc.)increases the level of Iman, which fosters the development of good character and constitutes being a modest model for others to emulate.
REMEMBRANCE OF DEATH:Death marks the end of all creatures in this worldly life, and paves the way for the next life, where man shall taste the fruits of his deeds, whether sweet or acidic. The panic of its bitter experience is inextinguishable in the heart of the true believer. A true believer is mindful of death and is not engrossed with the charming coquetries of the world knowing that he will be accountable for everything he does. The remembrance of death creates a barrier against sins, and other dwindling misdemeanors, which proportionally increases Iman i.e. the more frequent the remembrance, the higher the faith (Iman).

!
Iman(faith) in Islamic theology denotes a believer’s faith in various aspects of Islam. It is the light of the intellect, the polish of consciousness and the articulation of emotions in the heart of the true believers.Iman is a divine favor from Allah(God) i.e. it cannot be attained by giving in to evil desires (sins) which are filthy blemishes that stain the heart. Iman is the certitude in the unseen (ALLAH), the highest level of TAQWA(perfection of faith) and can be affirmed as acknowledging ALLAH (SWT) with full sincerity of the heart whilst accepting all his attributes and their obvious corollaries. The proclamation of having Iman as a true believer (mu’min) (which is not, often one of their qualities) professes the faith in Allah, in his signs and in his directives (decree). There are six articles of faith (Iman) which are; belief in ALLAH as the one and the only true GOD (Shahadah), belief in the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), belief in the Day of Judgment, belief in the noble Angels, and the belief in destiny (Qadar).
However, the trials of life can terrorize our Iman(faith) at times. Even, some believers are caught off guard due to the distractions of the world and transgressions (sin). But through patience, contentiousness, submissiveness, doing righteous deeds and constancy the true believers (mu’min) will scale through. It cleanses off any form of peccadilloes e.g. telling lies, stealing, backbiting, slandering, and listening to music (vain talks e.t.c.). This implies that surely,IMAN is the antidote to all problems. Departing happily from this transient life to the eternal realm will be possible only under the guidance of Iman. The preservation of one’s faith seems a rough ride in this malevolence society where telling lies is the habitual lingo but this destitution is the consequence of winning the divine trophy(AL – JANNAH FIRDAWS).
The rise of faith (Iman) toward its climax is dependent on measuring one’s faith even if the obvious look of a believer seem pious owing to the verity that Iman is not measurable on the physical body like the heart beat is measured with the use of a stethoscope. It has become imperative to understand the standards and the parameter scales of measuring one’s faith (Iman), although it is only ALLAH (SWT) that knows those who are truly pious (true believers) but Iman is measurable using some fundamental scales of the DEEN.

Tommorrow is the day for The Federal Polytechnic Ede Muslim Community lecture series themed "fiqh zakat", let's make it a day with our fathers and mothers and enjoin in the great course as it remains one of the pillar of our deen. We can see some clues from the below hadith
Abu Ayyub RA reported: A man said to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam): “Direct me to a deed which may admit me to Jannah.” Upon this he (the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam)) said, “Worship Allah and never associate anything with Him in worship, establish Salat, pay Zakat, and strengthen the ties of kinship.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Its been a while and i hope we are keeping things on course on the of . Lets have the continuation.

41) Zikr is just like a tree whose fruit is realization of Almighty Allah Ta’ala. More a person engages himself in the Zikr, stronger shall grow the root of this tree and more abundant will it bear the fruits.
42) Zikr of Almighty Allah Ta’ala promotes nearness to Him and thereby one earns His constant patronage. It is mentioned in the Quran.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مُحْسِنُونَ
“For Allah Ta’ala is with those who restrain themselves and those who do good” (16:128)
It is stated in one Hadith:
ان مع عبدي ما ذكرني
“I am with my slave who remembers Me”. (Bukhâri Sharief)
According to another Hadith, Allah Ta’ala says,
“Those who remember Me are My men, and I do not deprive them of My mercy. When they repent, I Am their friend, but when they do not repent. I Am their physician. I put them to worries to condone their sins."
The nearness to Allah Ta’ala that is developed due to excessive Zikr has no parallel. No words and no writing can describe this nearness. Its taste is known only to those who are blessed with it. (May Almighty Allah Ta’ala also bless me with the same).
43) Zikr of Allah Ta’ala is as meritorious as it is to liberate slaves, to spend in charity, and to perform Jihâd in the path of Allah Ta’ala.
(Many virtues of this kind have already been described and more will further be narrated in this book).
44) Zikr is the fundamental form of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah Ta’ala. One who does not perform Zikr cannot thank Him. It is stated in Hadith that Hadhrat Musa (AS) had asked Allah Ta’ala,
"O My Lord! You have done me countless favours, teach me the manner in which I should thank you befittingly."
Allah Ta’ala says:
"The more you perform Zikr, the more thanks you offer."
According to another Hadith, Hadhrat Musa u is reported to have said,
"O, Lord! how can I offer thanks worthy of Your greatness."
Allah Ta’ala replied:
"Let your tongue be always engaged in Zikr."
45) According to Allah Ta’ala, the best of the pious people are those who always remain busy in Zikr, because piety leads to paradise, and Zikr to the nearness to Allah Ta’ala.
46) There is a sort of hardness in the human heart which does not get softened by anything except Zikr.
47) In fact, Zikr is a remedy for all the ills of heart.
48) Zikr of Allah Ta’ala is the root of His love, and neglecting Zikr is the root of His enmity.
49) Nothing is more effective than Zikr in attracting Allah Ta’ala’s blessings and in warding off His chastisement.
50) Almighty Allah Ta’ala grants His grace to those who perform Zikr, and the angels pray for them.

03/04/2015

In continuation of the of
31) In spite of the fact that Zikr is the easiest form of worship (the movement of the tongue being easier than the movement of any other part of the body), All the same it is the most virtuous form.
32) Allah Ta’ala’s Zikr helps the plants of Paradise to grow.
33) Of all the actions, the reward and forgiveness promised for Zikr is the highest. According to a Hadith, if on any day a person repeats the following words one hundred times:
لا اله إلااللهوحده لا شريك له له الملك و له الحمد و هو على كل شىء قدير
"There is none worthy of worship except Allah Ta’ala, the One. There is no partner with Him; His is the kingdom, and for Him is all praise, and He is All-powerful to do everything."
He is rewarded as much as for freeing ten slaves, and in addition one hundred virtues are written in his account and one hundred sins are forgiven. He remains protected against the devil throughout the day, and none is considered as having acted better than him except one who has recited the same words more often than he did. Similarly, there are many other Ahâdith proclaiming the superiority of Zikr over all other good deeds.
34) Due to incessant Zikr one does not forget his own soul. Forgetting one’s soul leads to failure in both the worlds, because forgetting the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala leads to neglecting one’s own soul and all its best interests. Allah Ta’ala says in His book:
وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَأَنْسَاهُمْ أَنْفُسَهُمْ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
“And be not ye as those who forgot Allah Ta’ala and therefore He caused them to forget their souls. Such are the evil-doers”.(59:19)
Thus, when one forgets his own soul, he becomes careless and forgets his real interests, which leads to his ruin in the same way as a garden or field is invariably ruined when its owner fails to look after it. To remain protected from this ruin, one should keep his tongue always busy in Zikr to such an extent that it (zikr) becomes indispensable for him in such a way as water is for thirsty, food for hungry or a house and clothes for the needy. As a matter of fact, one should be more mindful towards Zikr than any of these material necessities which are a small loss if lost as compared with the spiritual death.
35) Zikr is the source of one’s spiritual elevation whether one is engaged in it while in bed or in the market, in good health or in sickness, or even when one is enjoying most of the pleasures of life. Nothing but Zikr can take a man to such spiritual heights whereby his heart is so illuminated with the radiance of Zikr that even while asleep he is more wakeful than a neglectful person who is awake all the night.
36) The Noor (radiance) of Zikr remains with a person in his life as well as in his grave. It will guide him on the Sirât in the Hereafter. Almighty Allah Ta’ala says in the Quran:
أَوَمَنْ كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَاهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُ نُورًا يَمْشِي بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ كَمَنْ مَثَلُهُ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِنْهَا كَذَلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
“Can he who was dead and whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can walk among men, be like him who is in utter darkness whence he cannot emerge?” (6:122)
The one mentioned first is the faithful, who believes in Allah Ta’ala and shines with the light of His love, Zikr, and cognizance, while the second one is devoid of all these virtues. In reality this radiance is a great blessing and leads to perfect success. That is why Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to beg in prolonged prayers for it to circulate in every part of his body. As mentioned in Ahâdith, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) prayed that Almighty Allah Ta’ala may bless his flesh, bones, muscles, hair skin, eyes and ears with Noor, and that he may be surrounded with Noor on all sides; he even prayed that he may be blessed with Noor from top to bottom, and that his whole person may be transmitted into Noor. One’s deeds will shine according to the Noor in oneself so much that the good deeds of some people (while going to heaven) will shine like the Sun. Similar Noor will be found in their faces on the Day of Judgement.
37) Zikr is the basic principle of Tasawuf (Sufism) and is invoked in all the schools of Sufism. A person who gets conversant with Zikr enters the gateway of Almighty Allah Ta’ala, from Whom he will get whatever he wishes, for Allah Ta’ala’s treasures are unlimited.
38) There is not a single corner in the heart of a man which cannot be filled but with Zikr. When Zikr controls the heart, not only does it fill up this corner but also leads the Zâkir to that kind of contentment which any amount of wealth would fail to produce. Such a person gets respect among people, which his family or party fails to bring about. He earns such a control over people that a sovereign would never dream of. On the other hand, disgrace descends over an indolent in spite of all his wealth and riches, party, strength and powers.
39) Zikr transforms distraction into concentration, remoteness into nearness. This means that one gets relieved of troubles, worries and fears, and is blessed with peace of mind. His mistakes and sins are forgiven, and the devils who are after him are dispersed away. It makes him to remember that the Hereafter is not far away, and the worldly life has little attraction for him.
40) Zikr does not allow one’s heart to suffer from forgetfulness, which leads to ignoring one's ultimate interest.

25/03/2015

In continuation of the of

21) The words of Zikr keep circulating round the Arsh of Almighty, as stated in a Hadith.
22) If one remembers Allah Ta’ala in happiness, Almighty Allah Ta’ala remembers him in his afflictions.
23) It is a means of deliverance from Allah Ta’ala’s punishment.
24) It causes Allah Ta’ala’s peace and mercy to descend, while angels surround the person engaged in Zikr.
25) It saves one’s tongue from indulging in backbiting, loose talk, lies, and abuses. It is a common experience that a man whose tongue remains engaged in Zikr does not commit these absurdities. On the other hand, a tongue that is not busy in Zikr, falls an easy prey to all kinds of useless talk.
26) The gatherings of Zikr are the gatherings of angels, and gatherings without Zikr are gatherings of Satan. A person is free to have a choice between the two, and verily a man, by instinct, is drawn towards what suits to his temperament.
27) By virtue of Zikr, the Zâkir is blessed and also the person sitting by him. Similarly, the indolent person is accursed for his indolence and also the person sitting by him.
28) Zikr will save one from despair on the Day of Judgement. This is confirmed by one of the Ahâdith which says that the gathering devoid of Allah Ta’ala’s Zikr will cause sorrow and losses on that Day.
29) If Zikr is accompanied by tears and loneliness, the Zâkir will be blessed under the shadow of Allah Ta’ala's Throne on the Day of Judgement when hearts will jump to lips due to agony of intolerable heat of that Day.
30) Those who remain busy in Zikr are better rewarded by Allah Ta’ala than those who remain busy in Dua (prayer) and supplication. According to one Hadith, Almighty Allah Ta’ala says that "I will reward one better who is engrossed in Zikr than the one who is busy in making Dua”.
