‎Changing the Narrative in Jigawa State
‎For the past five days, I had the privilege of monitoring a Refresher Training for Centre Facilitators under the Accelerated Basic Education Program (ABEP) in Babura LG, Jigawa State. Implemented by PLANE Window 3; Save the Children International, this program is more than just a curriculum: it is a roadmap for success.
‎Key Highlights:
‎1. Practical Pedagogy: Facilitators engaged with scripted lessons designed to create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
‎2. Role Clarity: Defining clear paths for both learners and facilitators to ensure seamless knowledge transfer.
‎3. Community First: Strategies for deep community engagement to boost attendance and completion rates.
‎‎Why ABEP matters?
‎Jigawa State is committed to reducing the number of out-of-school children, and Accelerated Basic Education Program is our secret weapon. By focusing on pedagogy and community engagement, we aren’t just teaching, we’re ensuring students stay in school and finish strong.
‎‎ABEP isn’t just a program; it’s the strategy that will change the narrative for out-of-school children in our state.

‎‎A special appreciation goes to PLANE Window 1 for their tireless efforts in ensuring Jigawa State sustains and institutionalizes ABEP within the state education agenda. Through high-level engagement and capacity building with the technical team, they are making sure these gains are sustained.

UNICEF and JEAF Inspire Youth-Led Advocacy for Better Education
Jigawa Education Accountability Forum (JEAF), in collaboration with UNICEF, commemorated the International Day of Education with a vibrant and impactful event filled with hope, energy, and strong commitment to improving education service delivery.
The event brought together passionate youth advocates who used the platform to express their concerns, share ideas, and demand improved access to quality education across communities. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of the critical role young people play in shaping the future of education.
During the engagement, youth collectively delivered a strong message to government, education stakeholders, parents, and community leaders, emphasizing that education is a fundamental right for every child and not a privilege reserved for a few. They called for increased accountability, improved learning conditions, and inclusive policies that ensure no child is left behind.
The celebration highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and reinforced the commitment of JEAF and UNICEF to promoting transparency, accountability, and active youth participation in strengthening the education sector in Jigawa State.

Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Malam Umar A. Namadi Danmodi, the ongoing education reforms are redefining the delivery of quality basic education across the state.

We proudly congratulate the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, and the Executive Chairman, SUBEB Jigawa, for initiating the provision of vehicles to 27 LGEA offices and 294 motorcycles to School Support Officers—a major boost for effective monitoring and supervision of teaching and learning.
