AGILE Project Coordinator Hosts Department of Family Health Delegation to Strengthen Collaboration.
The Project Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment AGILE, Mall Abdullahi Dahiru Bula, today thursday received a delegation from the Department of Family Health Dr Babagana Abba of the State Ministry of Health during a courtesy visit held at the AGILE Project Coordination Office.
The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional partnership and exploring areas of collaboration between the Department and the AGILE Project in promoting adolescent wellbeing, girls’ education, and improved health outcomes across the state.
Speaking while receiving the delegation, the Project Coordinator, Mall Abdullahi Dahiru Bula, welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as an important step toward enhancing cooperation between both institutions.
He provided an overview of the AGILE Project, explaining that the initiative focuses on improving access to education and empowerment opportunities for adolescent girls through interventions addressing barriers to learning, health challenges, social protection issues, and gender-related concerns.
Mall Bula also recognized the significant role of the Ministry of Health, especially the Department of Family Health, in supporting programmes related to adolescent and youth health, school health services, reproductive health awareness, and community sensitization.
He assured the delegation of the project’s readiness to work closely with the Department to achieve shared development goals and improve service delivery for adolescents and young people.
Earlier, the Director of Family Health Dr Babagana Abba thanked the Project Coordinator and members of the AGILE team for the warm reception and stressed the importance of stronger collaboration among government institutions and development partners.
The Director stated that the Department of Family Health oversees key areas such as School Health Services, Reproductive Health, Adolescent and Youth Health, Maternal and Child Health, among other interventions targeted at improving the wellbeing of women, children, adolescents, and families in the state.
According to him, several intervention areas of the Department align with the objectives of the AGILE Project, particularly in promoting girls’ education, health awareness, life skills development, and access to reproductive health information and services.
He emphasized the need for effective coordination and partnership to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure maximum utilization of available resources for greater impact at the grassroots level.
During the interactive session, both parties discussed possible areas of collaboration including school health outreaches, adolescent-friendly health services, reproductive health education, community engagement activities, capacity building for service providers, and joint advocacy programmes.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of regular engagement, technical support, and information sharing in ensuring the successful implementation of programmes targeting adolescents and young people.
