Last week, with support from UNICRI – United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, C3HD established Community Peace and Safety committees (CPSC). The committees constitute all border security agencies and communities stakeholders, including the Nigerian Police Force, Army, DSS, Civil Defense, immigration, NDLEA, Customs, Road transport unions, Women leaders, youth leaders, religious leaders and traditional leaders among others.
The committees are established to strengthen community participation and collaboration in preventing, reporting and responding to illicit activities linked to terrorism among Nigerian border communities of Gaidam and Yunusari LGAs of Yobe State. The committees will also strengthen community collaboration in combating security threats, including terrorism, violent extremism, human trafficking, smuggling, illicit trade, kidnapping, and other crimes affecting peace and development of the conflict affected areas of Yobe State.
This Bold initiative is part of our Ambitious BRAVE Project: Building Resilience Against Crime and Illicit Activities among Border Communities of Yunusari and Geidam LGAs of Yobe State.
