As an organization, we believe that meaningful impact is built through collaboration, commitment and intentionality.

As part of preparations for our upcoming Medical Outreach on the 28th of May, 2026, our Executive Director, Ewona Uwuru, met with representatives of the Ministry of Health, including the Medical Director and other key staff, to strengthen partnership efforts geared towards improving access to healthcare and support for girls and underserved communities in Cross River State.

This meeting reflects our growing commitment to building sustainable relationships that help us serve girls better, reach farther and create safer, healthier futures for the next generation.

We are grateful for the openness, support and shared vision towards community health and girl-child development.

We remain committed to advocacy, health education, and creating opportunities that allow every girl to feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Together, we are building impact that lasts.

What you should know about menstrual hygiene and how sustaining conversations around it, can build the confidence of Girls.

06/05/2026

This month, we are championing conversations around Menstrual Health Education. This is not just to create awareness, but to also give girls the opportunity to feel included during menstruation. Many girls feel undeserved during periods and it’s due to a misconception that has lived with them since they began menstruating.

You can join the campaign. Donate to support a girl with sanitary items. Partner with us.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2026.

As we begin the Month of Menstrual Hygiene Awareness, Marywhite Girl-Child Initiative-MGI is taking bold steps to advance menstrual health education by engaging young girls and communities in open, honest conversations about menstruation.

Through sensitization campaigns, school outreaches, and the distribution of sanitary materials, we will provide sanitary products, knowledge that brings confidence and dignity for vulnerable and at-risk girls.

Why Menstrual Health Education Matters:

Menstruation is natural, yet millions of girls still face stigma, shame, and misinformation. Many miss school, lose confidence, or suffer in silence simply because they lack the right information and support. Menstrual health education breaks these harmful barriers. It empowers girls to understand their bodies, manage their periods safely and live without fear or embarrassment.

Who This Initiative Will Benefit:

Our outreach is focused on adolescent girls, especially those in underserved and vulnerable communities. We are also engaging parents, teachers, and community leaders because we believe that creating a supportive environment requires everyone’s involvement.

How It Will Benefit Them:

📌 Girls will gain accurate knowledge about their menstrual health and hygiene.

📌 They will build confidence and self-esteem, knowing their bodies are normal and nothing to be ashamed of.

📌 And most importantly, access to sanitary materials will reduce absenteeism in school.

Join us throughout this month as we learn, share and support girls together.

School feeding programmes help keep girls in school and out of early marriage or child labour.

This improves their learning and overall health, while also empowering them to reach their full potential.

Around the globe, the World Food Programme supports millions of children through school meals.

We sincerely appreciate the organizers and partners, especially the Global Fund for Children, for investing in the growth and leadership of adolescent girls across Africa.

As we round off the month of giving, inspired by the International Women’s Day theme “Give to Gain,”

our Executive Director, Ewona Uwuru, shares her personal journey of overcoming timidity and finding confidence through access to education.

In this powerful video, she reflects on how education transformed her life, and why she is deeply passionate about ensuring that every girl, especially in Cross River State, is given the same opportunity to grow, learn and thrive.

Her story is a reminder that when we give girls access to education, we all gain a future filled with confident, empowered women.

This is a call to action.

Today, as the world commemorates International Women’s Day, we celebrate women whose lives are a reflection of service, compassion and unwavering commitment to humanity.

Across different spheres of life: ministry, Health, advocacy, leadership, mentorship, counseling and community service, women continue to give of themselves so that others may rise.

They come from different paths with different callings, but with one shared commitment; to give.

Today, we celebrate and appreciate them.

To the women who give spiritually(who offer counsel and guidance through ministry), socially, creatively, professionally, etc., we celebrate you for always pouring into humanity from every sphere of influence.

Happy International Women’s Day.

This month, we take part in the challenge.

Access to education is a fundamental right and a catalyst for sustainable development.

Through targeted support, the Marywhite Girl-Child Initiative-MGI is giving one Cross River Girl at a time, access to education, and removing a critical barrier to continued learning.

Ensuring that girls remain in school contributes to improved health outcomes, economic empowerment, gender equality, and stronger communities.

When barriers to education are reduced, girls are better positioned to realise their potential and participate meaningfully in society.

We remain committed to advancing inclusive, equitable quality education and expanding opportunities for every girl to learn, lead, and thrive.

We give access to education, to gain a future of educated, transformed and confident women.
