Every year on July 30, the world marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons—a day to stand against one of humanity's gravest crimes: the exploitation and trafficking of people.

This year's theme, "Trapped Behind the Scam," shines a light on a growing reality where people are lured with fake job offers, promises of opportunities abroad, and fraudulent recruitment schemes, only to find themselves trapped, exploited, and forced into criminal activities under threats and abuse.

Human trafficking is not a distant problem—it is happening in our communities. It often begins with attractive promises, quick travel arrangements, or someone claiming they can "sort everything out." These are the traps we must learn to recognize.

At Accelerating Social Impact Initiative (ACCEL INITIATIVE), we believe the answer is not discouraging migration but promoting safe, legal, documented, and informed migration while empowering people with the knowledge to identify trafficking tactics before they become victims.

As part of the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, ACCEL INITIATIVE joined partners across Cross River State, including NACTAL Nigeria and NAPTIP, for a sensitization road walk and symposium at the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

The awareness walk began at 11/11 (Eleven Eleven), proceeded through Mary Slessor Avenue, and ended at the UNICAL Main Campus, where students and members of the public received practical information on the dangers of human trafficking, common recruitment scams, and the importance of safe migration.
We appreciate every partner, volunteer, student, and participant who contributed to making the event impactful. Together, we are building communities that are informed, vigilant, and resilient against trafficking.

This effort contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 8, Target 8.7, which calls for the eradication of forced labour, modern slavery, and human trafficking.

Together, we can stop human trafficking.

Stay Alert. Spot the Trap. Speak Out. Travel Safe.

💜 Creating Safe Spaces for Girls, One School at a Time 💜
Access to menstrual health information and products should never be a barrier to a girl's education, confidence, or safety.
In line with our commitment to advancing the well-being of young people, Accelerating Social Impact Initiative (ACCEL INITIATIVE) carried out a Menstrual Hygiene Outreach at Government Secondary School, State Housing, Calabar Municipality, Cross River State.
The outreach provided students with practical knowledge on menstrual hygiene management, equipping them with the information needed to manage their periods safely, confidently, and with dignity. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating during the question and answer session. seeking clarity on issues affecting their menstrual health.
Understanding that period poverty can increase the vulnerability of girls to exploitation and abuse, Victoria Ukpong, South-South Zonal Coordinator of the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), facilitated a session on human trafficking awareness. She highlighted the dangers associated with vulnerability created by period poverty and encouraged students to prioritize their safety, self-worth, and education.
To further support menstrual dignity, ACCEL INITIATIVE distributed free sanitary pads to female students and established a Pad Bank within the school to ensure that girls have continued access to emergency menstrual supplies whenever the need arises.
The school's management and teachers expressed their appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely, impactful, and beneficial to the overall welfare of their students.
At ACCEL INITIATIVE, we recognize that empowering girls goes beyond providing information, it requires creating sustainable support systems that protect their health, dignity, education, and future opportunities.
Together, we are building a future where no girl misses out on her dreams because of her period.

💜 THE STREETS SPOKE… AND THE MESSAGE WAS CLEAR GIVE TO GAIN! 💜

Accelerating Social Impact -Accel- Initiative ,
Accelerating Social Impact Initiative (ACCEL INITIATIVE) proudly joined thousands of bold, resilient, and purpose driven women across Cross River State as the city of Calabar came alive in a powerful grand finale of International Women’s Day 2026 celebrations on March 31st 2026

What started at Millennium Park quickly transformed into a moving force of unity, strength, and advocacy, women from all walks of life stepping out, not just to be seen, but to be heard. From Mary Slessor to Marian, through IBB and beyond, the energy was electric, the voices unstoppable, and the message undeniable.
This wasn’t just a march.
It was a statement.
A statement that women are not waiting on change, they are driving it.
As leaders, partners, and stakeholders reinforced their commitment to women’s empowerment, one thing stood out: real progress begins when we intentionally invest in women not just with resources, but with opportunities, mentorship, inclusion, and support.
Because “Give to Gain” is more than a theme, it’s a strategy for transformation.
When women are empowered:
- Communities grow stronger
- Economies become more inclusive
- The next generation rises with confidence
From inspiring goodwill messages to impactful conversations on health, leadership, and participation in governance, the day echoed one powerful truth , the future is female, and the time is now.
ACCEL INITIATIVE is proud to stand at the forefront of this movement amplifying voices, supporting inclusion, and championing a society where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.

The walk may have ended, but the movement continues.

💧Water is Life, but for millions, it’s still a daily struggle.

Today, as the world marks World Water Day 2026, let’s pause and ask ourselves a hard question:
👉 If water is a basic human right, why are people still fighting to access it?
Right now:
Over 2 billion people globally still lack safely managed drinking water
In Nigeria, millions rely on unsafe sources, rivers, ponds, and unprotected wells
Every day, women and girls walk long distances just to fetch water that may not even be clean
And the truth?
This is not just about water.
It’s about health, dignity, education, and opportunity.
Because when water is not safe:
❌ Children fall sick
❌ Girls miss school
❌ Families spend more on healthcare than they can afford

Here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:
This problem is solvable.
And it starts with awareness, community action, and collective responsibility.

Accelerating Social Impact -Accel- Initiative, Accelerating Social Impact Initiative ACCEL INITIATIVE, we are not just talking, we are acting.
💙 We are committed to:
- Driving community awareness on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)
- Empowering communities with knowledge to prevent waterborne diseases
- Advocating for equitable access to clean and safe water for all
- Partnering with stakeholders to create sustainable impact where it matters most

But we cannot do this alone.
✨ Here’s how YOU can be part of the solution:
✔ Educate someone today about safe water practices
✔ Support local efforts working on clean water access
✔ Speak up, demand better water systems in your community
✔ Share this post to spread awareness
Because change doesn’t start in big rooms.
It starts with people like YOU deciding that enough is enough.
💧 Clean water is not a privilege.
💧 It is a right.
💧 And together, we can make it accessible to all.
