Trained, equipped and ready to protect!!

Today, we officially trained and inaugurated our Community Protection Group (CPG) from four communities in Calabar: Akim, Atakpa, Idang, and Akai Efa.

Through hands-on training, they gained practical skills in:
✅ Community response & reporting mechanisms

✅ Effective communication & ethical engagement

✅ Basic first aid & referrals

✅ Confidentiality & survivor-centered approaches

These community champions are now empowered to respond, refer, and protect ensuring that no vulnerable person is left behind.

When communities take ownership, protection becomes a reality.

Our 1 Day Community Dialogue & Sensitisation on Gender-Based Violence brought together community stakeholders, members, and advocates to tackle what often stays in the shadows.

Here’s what we walked away with:
✔️ Harmful cultural practices and norms can and must evolve.
✔️ Survivors have rights and we now know them better.
✔️ Referral pathways exist, and we’ve mapped them clearly.
✔️ The law is on our side when we choose to use it.
✔️ The community is as important as any other protection mechanism in the fight against GBV.

Conversation is the seed. Action is the fruit. Let’s keep growing.
