SHE UNITED MOVEMENT FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE:
The She United Movement for Good Governance has publicly announced its support for Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and expressed its commitment to working with the NDC in the 2027 political process.
The decision reflects the Movement’s stated commitment to promoting good governance, accountable leadership, women’s participation in politics, and a stronger voice for citizens in the democratic process.
What makes this declaration particularly significant is the organisational strength of the She United Movement.
The group has established a growing structure across the 18 Local Government Areas of Cross River State, with coordinators and grassroots members working within their respective communities. This structure demonstrates the group’s determination to move beyond political discussions and build an organised platform capable of meaningful participation in the political process.
The Movement deserves commendation for recognising the importance of women in political mobilisation and leadership. By bringing women together across local government and ward structures, She United is creating a platform through which women can participate actively in political conversations, contribute to decision-making and promote issues that affect their families and communities.
Its choice to identify with Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, while expressing support for the NDC, represents the political position of the organisation and its members. The decision also highlights the growing willingness of organised women to make their voices heard and to participate collectively in determining the political direction they believe best reflects their aspirations.
The strength of any political organisation is not measured only by the number of prominent individuals associated with it, but also by the quality of its grassroots organisation. In this regard, the She United Movement’s developing network across Cross River State gives it an important platform for political engagement.
The Movement has also demonstrated that women can build sustainable political organisations based on unity, participation, coordination and shared objectives. Its slogan, “United we stand, together we rise,” captures the principle behind its activities: that collective action can create greater opportunities for women to contribute meaningfully to governance.
As the 2027 political season approaches, the emergence of organised grassroots groups such as She United Movement for Good Governance underscores the increasingly important role women can play in Nigeria’s democratic development.
The Movement’s declaration is therefore more than a political announcement; it is also a statement about the growing determination of women in Cross River State to organise, participate and take their rightful place in the political process.
She United Movement for Good Governance remains committed to its stated ideals of unity, women’s political participation, good governance and responsible citizenship.
