THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF HUNGER AMONG STREET CHILDREN👇
When people think about hunger, they often imagine an empty stomach. But for street children, hunger is much more than missing a meal, it affects almost every part of their lives.
1). Hunger Pushes Children Into Dangerous Choices: A child who hasn’t eaten for days is more likely to accept unsafe jobs, beg in risky places, steal to survive, or become vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking.
Hunger weakens judgment because survival becomes the only priority.
2). Hunger Slows Brain Development: Children need proper nutrition for their brains to develop. Without it, they struggle to concentrate, learn new skills, remember information, and make good decisions.
Even when given the opportunity to return to school, prolonged hunger can make learning much more difficult.
3). Hunger Weakens the Immune System: Malnourished children get sick more often and take longer to recover. Simple illnesses that a healthy child might overcome can become life-threatening when the body lacks the nutrients needed to fight infection.
4). Hunger Affects Emotional Well-being: Constant hunger can lead to stress, anxiety, irritability, hopelessness, and emotional withdrawal. A child who lives with hunger every day may lose confidence, trust, and hope for a better future.
5). Hunger Keeps the Cycle of Poverty Alive: A hungry child is less likely to stay in school, develop skills, or secure stable employment later in life.
As a result, hunger today can become poverty tomorrow, creating a cycle that is difficult to break.
