PRESS RELEASE

The attention of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Cross River State Council, has been drawn to a viral video on social media of child trafficking involving a person suspected to be a nurse. The alleged incident reportedly took place at General Hospital Ogoja.

According to investigations conducted by the Association leadership in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Services Cross River State Ministry of Health and the hospital's management have confirmed that no baby was reported missing from the facility, and it was gathered that such incident did not occur there. However, we are informed that the police have arrested the suspected individual, and investigations are ongoing.

The Association is currently verifying whether the person involved is indeed a nurse. If confirmed, the Association will collaborate with the police and all relevant agencies to ensure the individual is held accountable and brought to justice, as such actions are unacceptable and unbefitting of a nurse.

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives dissociates itself from any unprofessional or criminal behavior by its members and reaffirms its commitment to upholding the integrity and ethics of the nursing profession.

Thank you, and God bless.

Comr. Josephine Bassey FCAI
State Chairman
