Rhema Relief Shelter Initiative
OUR HISTORY AND WHO WE ARE :
As a non profit organization, Rhema Relief Shelter Initiative (RHEMA) believes that all human lives have equal value before the Creator irrespective of where they live, how they live or the standards of their lives.
From the days of their youth unto adulthood, the founders of RHEMA experienced (&still do), an African story filled with power struggles coups&coup plots, unwanted killings, terrorism, religious conflicts, pain, anger, desperation, wars, rumors of wars, poverty, deprivation, squalor, joblessness, vulnerability, unending despair and hopelessness for the people.
A conscious evaluation by the founders identified religious and ethnic unrest leading inevitably to wars and extreme poverty as the principal challenge that required urgent solutions in Africa. Living in Nigeria, the founders (Ruben and Barbara Baka) concluded that the Nigerian Story had a huge impact on the African tale and their positive call to action gave birth to Rhema Relief Shelter Initiative in 2017.
RHEMA believes that the African cm Nigerian Story will experience a 1000% positive turn around in theory and practice if sharing and giving to the less privileged, the deprived and vulnerable persons and homes, is given topmost priority not only by governments and her agencies but most especially by other non profit establishments including religious organizations.
RHEMA therefore focusses on ways in which she can offer solutions to millions of Africans entrapped in unfavorable and deplorable circumstances of life; from poverty to health challenges, from educational backwardness to shelter unavailability and a paraphernalia of other issues seeking solutions.
RHEMA seeks and sources for partnerships that pools together ideas and resources, commitment, expertise, working together with several other organizations with global millage to identify problems in the continent, find answers and drive societal change.
In 2017, Rhema Relief Shelter Initiative was one of the relief agencies that welcomed and cared for vulnerable, deprived and war afflicted Cameroonian refugees who dwelled in Benue State, Nigeria for over 2 years. RHEMA provided support for over 1000 of them in the form of evacuation, food, shelter and jobs.
