Earlier today, the leadership of Bwari youths had a critical engagement with the leadership of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) Bwari unit at the palace.

The meeting was prompted by an official letter sent by the youth leadership, which drew the attention of the newly posted AEDC Business Manager, *Mr. Esan Dafe Glory,* and the Technical Director, *Mr. Aliyu Mohammed* . The duo acknowledged that their visit was in direct response to the letter and the concern raised by the youth community.

After brief introductions, the Youth President, Comrade Habila Awoyi, explained the purpose of the meeting to register the communityโ€™s frustration over the prolonged and irregular power supply in Bwari town, especially when nearby communities enjoy more stable electricity.

In his response, Mr. Esan commended the youth leadership for their maturity and constructive approach in handling the issue. He stated that among all the places he has served, Bwari youths stand out for their civility and clarity in presenting their demands.

He explained that the persistent power issue is primarily due to a faulty Bwari feeder, which serves multiple areas including Bwari town, Garam, Ijah, Kuduru, and others. The situation, according to him, has been escalated to AEDC headquarters, but no resolution has been received so far.

He further explained that because these areas are linked to the same feeder, power distribution is currently overloaded, leading to weak and overstretched infrastructure. As a result, supply becomes unstable.

The AEDC team encouraged the youth leadership to also write directly to the AEDC General Manager at the headquarters, stating that such a move could accelerate action, especially when supported by their own internal reports.

Addressing a common misconception, Mr. Esan clarified that the issue is not about transitioning from 11kVA to 33kVA. Rather, the focus should be on fixing the 11kVA substation serving the Bwaya community. He assured that a properly functioning 11kVA station can deliver up to 13 hours of power, closely matching the 15 hours provided by a 33kVA line.

Following a thorough and honest deliberation, it was resolved that a formal letter be drafted and forwarded to the AEDC headquarters, guided by inputs from the local AEDC officials, to ensure prompt and appropriate attention to the electricity challenges facing Bwari.

Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative Visits Our Prestigious Palace

Today, we had the honour of receiving the Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative at our esteemed palace, where they engaged with our teenage daughters and sisters in a meaningful and empowering session.

The gathering was both impactful and enlightening, as the team sensitized and oriented the girls on important personal and developmental issues. At the end of the session, sanitary pads were distributed as part of their menstrual hygiene support effort, a thoughtful gesture that was deeply appreciated.

The CEO of the initiative, in his remarks, assured us that this is only the beginning. He expressed his commitment to return soon, this time to hold a similar engagement with the boys in our community. He also hinted at plans to support football-loving youths, promising to create opportunities that allow them to enjoy and grow through the sport.

We look forward to more fruitful partnerships and commend Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative for their noble cause.

In a heartwarming display of cultural appreciation and academic curiosity, Professor Mathew Faytak of the Department of Linguistics, University at Buffalo, New York, paid a memorable visit to the ESU Bwari Palace yesterday evening.

Currently in Nigeria on a linguistic research mission, Prof. Faytak is deeply invested in studying the Gbagyi language.

He shared that his encounters with the Bwaya people have significantly enriched his research, providing him with invaluable linguistic data and deeper insight into the languageโ€™s structure and usage.

Recognizing the cultural importance of the Bwari Kingdom and the influential role of its traditional leadership, Prof. Faytak made it a point to personally visit His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Yaro JP The 17th ESU Bwari and the Chairman of Bwari Area Council traditional council, a revered custodian of the Gbagyi heritage.

The meeting was not only a symbolic gesture of respect but also a celebration of the intersection between tradition and scholarship. Professor Matthew came in company of Dalhatu Musa Abigail who is a lecturer at Nasarawa state University, Nasara Barnabas Victor an educationist with FCT SEB and Theophilus Noah Baba who is also an educationist with the FCT Department of higher education.

During the visit, HRH warmly welcomed the professor, commending his commitment to preserving indigenous languages. As a gesture of friendship and cultural honor, the Esu of Bwari presented Prof. Faytak with a traditional Gbagyi cap โ€” a symbolic keepsake to carry with him back to the United States.
