NITDA-ASCEND STUDIOS FOUNDATION, CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM (CTP) 2022

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with Ascend Studios Foundation is announcing the launch of Creative Technology Program (CTP), 2022. The programme is aimed at developing and retaining of Creative Technology Talents in Nigeria for promoting career skills and providing job opportunities among the beneficiaries.

“The goal of the programme is to enable, nurture and upskill creative technology talents in persons into viable career options; and create an ecosystem that will boost the economic potential of all participants.”

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the existing digital skills gap and resulted to millions of job losses – disrupting the global landscape and leaving many with speculations on the world’s recovery mechanism, therefore this level of training is crucial, according to Kashifu Inuwa CCIE," the Director General/CEO of NITDA".

Similarly, the President of Ascend Studios Foundation, Dr Inya Lawal, said “We are delighted that NITDA has partnered with us as our goal is to bridge the creative technology skill gap Nigeria has and produce top professionals in Gaming, Animation and Augmented Reality whose work can compete globally”.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has embarked on several initiatives to upskill and reskill Nigerians across all walks of life in line with the national agenda for a digital economy - the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS). The development of NITDA Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) is a strategic plan towards achieving the NDEPS.

In continuance to provide massive employment opportunities through digital skills, NITDA have kick started an ambitious project to train one million software developers in the country. Therefore, the NITDA- Ascend Studios Foundation, CTP will enable the participants gain new skills that will help them take their ventures to the next level, at the same time formulating a strong network for sharing ideas and each other’s experiences.

As the creative economy rapidly transforms the global economic landscape and the technology skills gap between Africa and other continents widen, technology literacy is fast-becoming a fundamental right and a springboard for Africans to engage and participate in today’s world. The need and demand for creative and digital technology skills is more pressing than ever before. The program will find talents in Animation, Games and AR who will contribute positively to the Nigerian economy and its relation to career/business opportunities within creative technology. CTP is supported by the HOW Foundation, Africa Creative Market, Paramount Africa, Global Wissen Consult, Entertainment IP Germany and the Animation Excellence Cluster in Germany.

NITDA-DOMINEUM BLOCKCHAIN SCHOLARSHIP 2022

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with Domineum Blockchain Solutions is announcing the launch of NITDA Blockchain Scholarship, 2022 Scheme. The programme is aimed at training 30,000 Nigerians on blockchain technology for developing career skillset in the emerging technologies.

Announcing the scheme on the Blockchain-day of “Digital Nigeria” event held on the 26th October 2022, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director General/CEO of NITDA said the scholarship will help to “accelerate blockchain adoption in Nigeria and make Nigeria a global player in the blockchain industry”. He called on Nigerians to take advantage of the scholarship to become “early solution providers in the fourth industrial revolution”.

The scheme has Domineum Blockchain Solutions as the implementing partner and BSV Blockchain Academy as the course content provider.

Reacting to the announcement, Mr. Mohammed Jega, the co-founder of Domineum reiterated its commitment to delivering “quality education and equipping participants with the skills to build real-life blockchain solutions”. Similarly, Calistus Igwilo, the Course Coordinator and Country CTO of Domineum said that “blockchain will power the next generation data and the courses are carefully designed to equip participants with the right skills to become professionals and help shape the future of blockchain industry.”

The programme will be delivered through a hybrid mode (virtual and physical meetups) in all the states of the Federation. Outstanding teams in the project phase stand the opportunity to join an incubation program in London while others will be exposed to the BSV Ecosystem where they can be involved with various projects.The scholarship is open to every Nigerian that is willing to put in a minimum of 20 hours per week, has access to laptop or desktop, show commitment and determination; no prior programming experience is required.

Application opens from 31st October to 28th November, 2022 and course starts on 1st December, 2022.

DUTSE – A report of Jigawa Concern Citizen’s Initiative’s has predicted the collapsed of the state Civil Service as a result of shortage of manpower development as the state experienced massive retirement’s of civil Servants without replacement.

Addressing a press conference in Dutse the Committee Spokes person, Hjy Furera Baffa a retired Permanent Secretary ( Establishment), states what baffles us in the cause of our findings, we were able to traced the number of jigawa Pensioners doubled civil servants in the state civil service which include political office holders, local government staff, and state government workers totalling 58,000 work force.

She stated going by this projections more than thirty percent workforce were retired without replacement, pointing out there is tendency that the state civil service was on the verge of collapsed.

According to her, most of the competent hands have retired without replacement especially in sensitive ministries such as Education, Health, Agriculture, among others, lamenting that’s why the structures of the state civil service has since been eroded, with poor posture of public confidence, and respect.

“We have notice that our state was faced with shortage of manpower development, as well the civil Servants lacks professionalism, morale and motivation to offer credible service delivery due to lack of effective training, motivation, descipline and professionalism as those officers who suppose to mentor them where forced to retired due to political reasons, situation which calls for urgent amendments”
