Women and girls have an important role to play in creating positive change in their families and communities. Yet, many still face barriers that limit their participation, leadership and access to opportunities.

We must continue creating spaces where women and girls can speak up, participate in decision-making, develop their skills and lead change.

A stronger community begins when every voice is valued.

She Had a Voice, But No One Gave Her a Seat
She had ideas. She had courage. She had the ability to make a difference.

But every time decisions were being made, she was told, “You are too young,” or “Leadership is for men.”
She listened. She watched. But she did not give up.

One day, someone finally gave her a chance to speak. Her ideas were heard. Her confidence grew. And slowly, she began to lead, not because she was given special treatment, but because someone finally opened the door that had always been closed to her.

This is the reality for many women and girls.
Sometimes, they don't need us to speak for them. They need us to create the space for them to speak for themselves.

Let stop asking whether women and girls are ready to lead.
Let ask whether we are ready to give them the opportunity.
Because when a woman or girl is empowered to lead, she doesn't rise alone, she creates a path for others to rise with her.
When women rise, communities thrive.

On 17th and 18th August 2026, the KTMDI THRIVE Project Team conducted a step-down training for 23 Community Care Workers (CCWs) covering all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kebbi State. The training was organized in two clusters to facilitate effective participation, interaction, and a better understanding of the key project activities.

The training focused on strengthening the capacity of CCWs to effectively implement ongoing household services and utilize the Child Monitoring Plus App for routine monitoring, documentation, and reporting of services provided to beneficiaries. Particular attention was given to ensuring that CCWs are adequately prepared to provide quality and comprehensive services during upcoming household visits and to accurately capture all services delivered.

Overall, the training provided an opportunity for the KTMDI Team to refresh the knowledge of CCWs, address implementation gaps, and ensure that all CCWs across the 21 LGAs are better equipped to deliver, monitor, document, and report quality household services under the THRIVE Project.

Kebbi State RWVL Nigeria Project Steering Committee Inaugurated to Strengthen Women’s Voices and Leadership

The Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) Nigeria Project Steering Committee was officially constituted and inaugurated on 29th July 2026 at Jamvaly Hotel and Resort, Kebbi State.

The 12-member Steering Committee comprises representatives from Key Government Ministries, Financial Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, Disability Inclusion Groups and Project Coordinators. The committee was established to provide strategic direction, oversight, coordination, and support towards the successful implementation and sustainability of the RWVL Nigeria Project in Kebbi State.

Members of the Steering Committee include representatives from two Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), a Lead Women’s Rights Organization, Bank of Industry, Zenith Bank, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), the RWVL Project Manager, and the RWVL Northern Coordinator.

The inauguration signifies a renewed commitment among stakeholders to promote women’s economic resilience, amplify women’s voices, advance gender equality, strengthen inclusive participation, and ensure the achievement of the RWVL Nigeria Project objectives in Kebbi State.
