Promoting Saving Culture among Secondary School Students

On October 31st, 2016, Edumana Microfinance Bank Ltd in collaboration with Bida Forum Business development Committee (BDC) organized a training programme on Entrepreneurship and the maiden launching of ā€œYOUTH SAVEā€. The event that was held to mark the annual WORLD SAVINGS DAY was attended by 21 (twenty one) secondary schools within Bida with at least 10 (ten) students from each school. The total population of the secondary school student at the event was 252 (two hundred and fifty two). This was powered by German International Corporation (GIZ) a non-governmental organization (NGO) that promotes savings culture and is also at the fore front of poverty alleviation at the grass root level.
At the end of the programme, a total number of 159 (one hundred and fifty nine) students opened a YOUTH SAVE account with a minimum take off balance of #200 (two hundred naira) while 2 (two) students opened with #500 (five hundred naira). This brought the YOUTH SAVE account total deposit for that day to #32,800 (thirty two thousand, eight hundred naira) only. Edumana Microfinance Bank Ltd, Bida promised to reward students that participated in order to encourage healthy competition among youths towards saving culture.
A pledge of paying the WAEC/ NECO examination fee of the first account holder that has a minimum lump sum of #5,000 (five thousand naira) within 6 (six) months of opening the YOUTH SAVE account while the JAMB registration fee of the second best account holder was made. This noble gesture prompted NGOs that were present to make their own pledges to other deserving students. Also, the board members and the MD/CEO of Edumana Microfinance Bank, Ltd Bida made pledges too.
To this end, on July 1st 2017 at Government College Bida, Edumana Microfinance Bank in partnership with those persons that made pledges on October 31st, 2016 presented a cheque of #14,000 (fourteen thousand naira) to Abdullahi Sh*ttu of Day Secondary School, Eyagi, Bida who was the overall best account holder while a cheque of #7,000 (seven thousand naira) was given to Fati Chado of Government Girls Day Secondary School, Bida. Three other students were presented with a cheque of #5,000 (five thousand naira) each. These are Sanusi Samiat Oluwafunmilayo of Government Girls Day Secondary School, Bida; Musa Kafayat Doko of Army Day Secondary School, Bida and Abubakar Ndagi of Dzwayagi Junior Secondary School, Bida.
After the presentation of these cheques to the five deserving students, the management of Edumana Microfinance Bank Ltd, Bida decided to use the money remaining from the pledges made to reward more students in the second phase of the YOUTH SAVE account. This will encourage more students to imbibe savings culture as against wasteful spending. The pictures of the cheque presentation are attached below.

MY FATHER'S ADVICE TO ME WHEN I WAS SEARCHING FOR A WIFE... WOW

Jerry John Rawlings The Former Ghana President

My son, I will be very raw and sincere with you.
Do not worry about the size of a woman buttock
or breast but worry about the size of her heart
and brain. Worry about the size of her love and
endurance. Because after 5 or 10 years, it will not
be about the breast or buttock.
As you can see, your mum now has a flat chest
and almost flat buttock but we still live together
happily, I still love her and she still love me.
Be careful of a woman that loves money. I mean
the woman that talks ā€˜every time’ about her hair,
cloths, shoes, bags panties and make-ups.
Marriage is not all about these things. Without
make-up, cloths, shoes and panties a good
marriage will still stand but without love, no
marriage can stand.
When I got married to your mum, I didn’t have a
car or house of my own. I was not even
educated. But I had dreams and she appreciate
and support me. Any woman that does not
support your dream is not worth thinking-a-
minute about. There are women that will see your
dreams better than you, you are lucky if you find
one,
My son, open your ears very well, there is a kind
of woman you should avoid, do not make a
mistake to marry this kind of woman or you will
regret it. I mean a woman that always has bad
things to say about everyone. If you see this kind
of woman, run away.
One of the worst kind of woman you can marry is
the one that complains about everything. If you
buy this, she says you should have bought that, if
you do this, she said you should have done that.
Please stay away!
Most women enjoy talking but the one who talks
for two hours and listen for two minutes is a
potential ā€˜bomb’. Be wise
Be very careful of a pretending partner. A
pretending woman is not hard to know. She will
always know everything about everything, she will
be careful. Just close your eyes and open your
heart and you will see!
No woman is perfect. If you see a woman who
believes in your dream , who respects you who is
committed and who is not all about herself alone
then don’t let her go.
But remember, you must not be a wayward man.
I have trained you!
If you find a good woman but you are a bad man,
you wont have a good marriage!
I won’t pick a wife for you but I have given you
my advice. When you find her, bring her for my
blessings.
May you find a woman that will increase you not
decrease you..
